Mjr. D
I'm wondering, what do you guys think gives you more of a "relationship", in terms of pure feel with the club head. A mid size grip or a regular grip, with 4 or 5 wraps of tape? Since there is more rubber in a midsize grip, do you loose a little feedback/feel when compared to a regular sized grip with tape built up? Curious. The answer to your question is "standard" size + tape and "yes"; less grip material improves feel IMO. Course that depends on your hand size, there has to be a balance. For many years I tried all the new grips and sizes - and always came back to "standard Tour Velets (for feel purposes) with +2 wraps; until recenlty when Golf Pride introduced Decade MC Blue grips. GP's Decade MultiCompound Blue grip with (+1 left / +2 right) is the best of all worlds for me; cord under my left for helps with grip pressure, and rubber under my right dominate hand for feel when using the wedge grip. Spoon
ive been going thru the same problem. my clubs came with standard asian grip, i have rather large hands so i had them re-tape 5 wraps and save the existing gri[ps. they feel much better than the original plus i dont grip with my left as hard. I have really really large hands......basketball player hands. Do you think standard grips with 5 or 6 wraps of tape would give more feel than just installing mid size grips? Thanks. My thought would be nothing more the conjecture. Besides, even though my hands are larger then average - they are not nearly in the palming a basketball range;) On a related note, if your hands are that big, how long are your clubs??? idrive
Grip size is very important. The larger the grip the more you tend to fade a ball, smaller grip is easier to hook. My friend just re-griped his driver with a larger grip. He can't figure out why he's no longer able to draw the ball. He doesn't believe my explanation. Try different sizes and find the one best suited for you.

Most really good players and pros I know build up their grips which prohibits their hands from rolling over to quickly - effectively taking the left side out play. The question becomes how much build is to much.

I'm currently using Midsize Tour Velvet on my irons and standard Tour Velvet with 5 wraps of tape on my wedges. First of all, the Midsize is larger than 5 wraps of tape with the standard grip. 6 wraps should get you closer to Midsize grips. With 5 wraps on my wedges the surface patterns are expanded a bit wider and the grip feels a tad firmer than the original. The surface patterns on the Midsize remains the same while feeling a little softer than the standard no wrap Tour Velvet. Bat
