kawika5150
Is it ok to purchase a "driver" shaft such as those listed in the Pro Shop for a 3 wood or similar, or is there another area that specifies for FW shafts only? If it's ok to buy a driver shaft, once cut and shortened to specified/desired length, wouldn't it affect the performace or the original specs (stiff = stiffer, etc.)? Most if not all of my FW shafts were all driver shafts. It is a great way of recycle a good shaft. Most sites would advise the way to trim for FW. As long as you dont tip the shaft at all or too much, cutting the butt end should not affect playability too. Of course the cpm would go up regardless due to shorten length anyway. You should take a look at the WITB of this board and see how many driver shafts in FWs.
Spoon
i agree with duffer. thats what i love about this site you can customize your woods and have them in any shaft you want:) as for driver shafts being put on fw i do it all the time. i usually recycle shafts as well and have them butt trimmed with little or no noticeable effetcs. for my softer shafts i would tip trim and not add an extension to get stiffer flex which is how i like it on my FWs
