rikisan
I just picked up JPX irons and i cant hit them. i hit 90% on the toe (by about one ball print) and i hooked them back (nice to almost where im aiming). i figured its the lie angle. i looked up my old set and there 1.5 degrees more upright (cobra forged). i was just making sure before i go bend them that this seems like the right assumption. also i was just making sure its ok to bend them 1.5 degree without worry. thanks a bunch ricky h
bogeydog
Sounds to me more like a shaft problem. Lie shouldn't cause that much effect. The upright lie would bring the club in towards you which means you stand closer to the ball. Do the clubs feel short? How do they compare with your older set? Step closer to the ball and see if impact improves and then watch the ball flight. If the shafts are too weak, the face closes too fast and a hook can result. I can't see that the heads, even if the wrong lie, would cause a severe problem. Duffer19
I think that if you bend the JPX more upright, the ball would, in theory, go or hook left more. If the JPX is a one piece forged, I do not see any problem bending by 1.5 degree either way but one would take care with those undercut two piece welded heads. I had no problem bending my Miura cb201 by 2 degree more upright since it was already 2 degree flat compared to normal standard. Good luck. Forte
Rikisan, I too think it could be the NS Pro 950s you are using. I am using the 1150s and dont have that problem. However, you seem to be using a Speeder 757/Rombax 07X07 stiff which in theaory is pretty hard to hit/load. I have tough time trying to load either Speeder 757/Rombax 07X07 driver shafts in stiff. Maybe the 950s are way too light/flimpsy for you?
Cameron
I think I recall Chris mentioning to me that the JPX E500s should only be bent 2 degrees (or, maybe he said Mizuno would only bend them that much). In any event, my concern would be opening a gap at the tungsten insert on the heel. Make sure the guy who bends them knows what he is doing and has a top quality bending vise. Soft shafts will cause the toe to dip down and come in a bit. That can cause a toe hit, and may necessitate a more upright lie. Perhaps it is best to try a stiffer shaft. But go have someone test you with a lie board.
rikisan
i used to play cobra forged with s300's (130g vs 98g). i was thinking about reshafting eventually but wasnt sure why i hit these so weird. i thought if the mizunos are flatter i was hitting the toe of the club on the ground too early, opening the face, in turn causing me to push the ball right. i was worried about the tungston inserts. i wasnt sure if i read something on here about this. rikisan
first of all i wanted to say thanks for all the advice. anyways. i figured out that now, the face WAS lagging more than the old irons. i moved tha ball forward in my stance a little and made sure i wasnt releasing the club to early and i started to smack everything pretty good. it still draws quite a bit but i wouldnt call it a hook anymore. also i got about 10-15 yards more distance. mizuno's are awsome. clean hits are amazing. thanks again for the help everyone. if it wasnt for your input i would have wasted my time and oney getting the lie adjusted. ricky h
