Switching to Epon

Hi guys. I'm planning to switch to Epon and I need some shaft help. I'm currently playing a 8.5* Titty d2 w/ a 45" stiff proforce v2 75g shaft and Callaway X-Forged irons, bent 2* strong, fitted w/ 6.0 PX Flighted. I'm planning to get a 9.5 Technity 460, maybe 0.5 or 1 degree open; and Type J irons. I like the shaft flex and penetrating flight of the 6.0 PX flighted, but I don't think Epon offers it. Looking at the Nspro 1150 tour stiff flex, but am a bit scared it might baloon on me in windy conditions. My Titty w/ the V2 75 goes on a mid trajectory and is very accurate (no more hooks! :tsg_smilie_surprise:), but is just not as explosive distance-wise as I would like. I think the bore-through makes it play almost to an X flex and makes it feel a tad boardy for my taste. Would the Axiv V 8072 make me hit it a bit further while still maintaining the accuracy and anti-left characteristics? How about the Roddios? What flex since the Technity isn't a bore through? I'm getting a bit confused with all the shaft options! :tsg_smiley_question: I naturally have a high ball flight w/ above average spin and hit it right to left. Swing speed w/ the driver ranges from 107-110 mph with a fairly quick tempo. Thanks!

Hi shepard,

The lower numbered model Nippons, like the 850 and 950 and even 1050 have much higher ball flight than the 1150 tours, you won't have to worry about ballooning there. Type J's with PX flighted shouldn't be a problem I think. TSG should be able to do that for you. As you see, best thing about Epon is that it is fit the way you like it and want it.

The Axiv V is know for tight dispersion, kick for distance and anti-left characteristics. It's ball flight is also lower than that of the regular axiv and roddio.

Have you been fit in the fitting threads by Tourspecgirl? An 8072 or Roddio W7WA S flex sounds about right for your swing, but she's the expert for that.

Thanks Gocchin! I was actually lookin at the 8072s if I were going to get Axiv's. The GD I-65 seems interesting too since I have always had good experiences with GD shafts (had the m-65 in my old X-drive 405 HR). Anyways thanks for the help again. Your posts and blogs at Inpakuto are always helpful!

G, spending too much time here huh? i thought youd never give up your Tittys! anyway good choice on the epons. let you try my driver when it arrives although the w6ba sr would be too soft for you. no harm in trying. also you cant go wrong with that axiv you seleced, many have had great success with it.

i agree with Gocchin, fill up your stats in the fitting thread, tourspecgirl can recommend a good shaft for you.
