iamome
Hey guys, I'm looking for the first forged iron set and making a decision between 1. EPON AF-701 (coming soon) or 2. PRGR IS3 501 Has anyone ever tried out the PRGR iron IS3 501? I just tried out the demo IS3 501 yesterday. I hit its i7 (M-43) 180 yards and i5 for 200 yards which are completely different from my current iron set, TM R7 (PRGR IS3 501 is 30-40 yards further than TM R7 ) That made me cannot stop thinking and question about it "Why it's much different than that?" "Does its technology help me alot like that?" and more question in mind. I can't wait to try shot by shot between PRGR and EPON. Need some comments and advise from you guys. (I know the AF-701 doesn't launch yet but soon.) Thx in advance.
gocchin
The AF-701 is already out and it's in the Pro Shop... as for your iron choice, remember distance is not everything... you also need to look at the lofts of your irons before comparing one 5 iron to another. However, 30-40 yards different is incredible. Was that outdoors or on a simulator (cause I would doubt the simulators accuracy). That said, the AF-701 will be the more forgiving of the two irons. It will also have stronger lofts which will result in even more distance. the AF-701 will also be premium Endo steel for amazing feel and the undercut in the AF-701 is more prominent making for a larger more forgiving sweet spot than the 501's. The is502's are actually the more forgiving iron from PRGR but they are not forged.

I'm waiting a call from the Golfcraft about the AF-701 coming out? And it's true for 30-40 yards different .... like I said that results made me crazy and have ton of questions in my mind. I wish the AF-701 would be out with the similar result to the IS3 501 coz I also would like to do a club fitting to fit with my physical and swing. Duffer19
If the difference is 30 to 40 yards, it is really a no brainer no matter how ugly the PRGR looks nowadays. No Epon, or any iron would be able to match that with or without fitting.
Bat
I was just wondering if there's a review of these PRGR irons anywhere in the Japanese magazine? Can anyone provide a link to it? Also, does anyone know the profile of their steel shafts? Thanks Bat
