Posted September 20, 200717 yr I had a chance to demo the new PRGR Egg today at a golf shop in Tokyo. The best I can describe it is a modern and pretty/slim version of Hi Bore utilities. As a matter of fact the whole set of irons could actually be considered hybrids. While the look is debatable (all black tops and stainless sole), it was extremely solid as an iron that feels like a wood. I feel it is perfect set for Gocchin. September 20, 200717 yr Author This is not something new, Maruman came up with a set a iron-wood about 20 years ago and my dad had a set given to him by Japanese associates but he never played it. It is still sitting untouched in the store room.
September 21, 200717 yr R, Have you found any gems in Tokyo yet? This is not something new, Maruman came up with a set a iron-wood about 20 years ago and my dad had a set given to him by Japanese associates but he never played it. It is still sitting untouched in the store room.

I did spend a whole morning at Keiyo testing all sort of shafts although the workshop manager does not speak a word of English and me Japanese. Cannot make myself buying a few limited procuction RomaRo putters.
January 5, 200817 yr I got a #4 and #5 egg for Xmas from my brother in law. Finish is typical PRGR, very good and classy. Nice headcovers and very nice shafts. Interestingly my brother in law sent me the #4 with PRGR Graphite and the #5 with Inpsec lightweight steel. I hit a couple of balls in the basement into the net and as Duffer said above it feels like a wood and is very easy to hit with it's wide sole and blunt leading edge. It's made complete of maraging steel so the ball feels like it rockets off the face (but of course I can't confirm that yet as I'm hitting them into a net). The lofts are very strong... 21* on the 4 and 23* on the 5. The 5 iron hybrid with steel has the prgr sticker on that says 23* and 190y. Let me tell you I would be the happiest person on earth if this club went 190 yards as a 5 iron replacement. I'll test with the PRGR shafts when I get a chance then will shaft both with my choice UT shaft from Graphite Design though the PRGR Graphite feels pretty nice. The clubs are also longer than the clubs they are supposed to replace by about 0.5". They are VERY popular in Japan among mid to higher handicappers who are looking for something to replace the long irons with. PRGR has had several recreational golfers start blogs chronicling their experiences with the EGG and they have all been very positive. What I found most interesting was that even lower handicappers have been experimenting with the EGG and loving them as a hybrid Iron/utility which is why I added them to the pro shop that way first to see if people were interested. I only put stuff in the shop that I personally approve of (^_^) haha... I did take some pics the other day when they arrived (same pics I put in the pro shop)...
January 12, 200817 yr In the photo it appears to have a closed face. Is that true, or simply a photographic artifact?
January 14, 200817 yr In the photo it appears to have a closed face. Is that true, or simply a photographic artifact? Maybe the way I took the photo... I just pulled out the 5 iron and it looks pretty square.
