shorter drivers

Are any of the Japanese drivers weighted to play shorter shafts of 44.5 or 44 with a D0 SW or so, or do they need to be weighted. Most US spec heads are 195 grams and designed to play a 45.5 shaft, so cutting them requires alot of weighting. The US pros somehow have special heads built to 216 grams or so allowing shafts of 44.5 inches.

Most driver heads are too light to get a decent swing weight at 44.5.

The tour van drivers certainly sit squarer, however I think the real reason for the tour van driver, is the extra weight in the head.

My driver is 44.5 and swings to at least D4. I'm very reluctant to change to something newer as I don't believe I will be able to find something with sufficient head weight.

This is all personal taste of course, however I think it gives a reasonable answer to your question.

Most Japanese driver heads are between 190-200g (most on the lighter end) I was lucky enough to get a few heads over 200g, including an Epon at 201g and two G-Field drivers at around 204g. This really helped as I play a driver between 44 and 44.5" depending on the head.

Ask Chris about getting an Epon in the 204-205g range.... I think it's doable.

Assuming most of the posters are at least reasonable golfers, driver heads in the 205g range would be a significant benefit as I see it.
