ROBOPTI
IF you aren't too peeved at me yet - Just curious what you think is the current or soon to be MONSTER off the tee - You get so many cool toys so rapidly I have a hard time keeping up. I'm smacking around a 6.5* & 8.5* Pro Ds around with Whiteboards - and killing them - anything out there possible in lower lofts or with just so much ballspeed it's worth a try ;) Thanks Chris - We should chat some day ;)
gocchin
Hi Rob, The biggest challenge for us is finding you the right loft! There are a lot of hot drivers off the tee with great ball speeds but finding one under 9* is a tough! I'm going to poke around and see what I can find for you... there were some recent Japanese magazine articles featuring the long drivers of Japan and the drivers they are using... let me dig it up. ROBOPTI
Cool ... I'm not too hung up on low loft - An 8 or 9 would be fine as long as the head is a somewhat of a low spinner. I had a chance to hit a ZR-600 finally and GOOD LORD was it good - I have been perusing the Pro Shop (again ;) ) and there are SO MANY good heads in their. My BIGGEST "must have" is a square to open face angle. I LOVE that Yamaha / MP460 looks awesome - just too many to list. Thanks again !!!!! And the amazing thing is, the 425V which won that D-1 distance shootout has a real loft LOWER than the stated loft. The 9* was measured as 8.6* real loft! The 460D 10* was measured as 10.8* real loft.

The 425V in 9* is nice and square... I should probably stop talking about it before everyone thinks that I work for Yamaha but I was really blown away by this club as I hadn't heard of anyone playing a Yamaha other than Gocchin! One thing to check... I don't know if it is a low or mid-spin head, so try to look into that. BTW, the 425V Tour comes with a Diamana Whitebaord, but I think it is the 63 gram version, which is probably a bit light for you? If you like the ZR600... no harm in trying the new ZR700 and the X-Drive 445 wouldn't be a bad choice either.

I think it comes in 6, 7 degrees only. I am sure Chris can get you one. Perhaps Chris can recommend one of the long drive Works. ps: Geotech (Japan) has a pro spec head that is 2 degrees open face angle. I was totally thinking of Works actually, the long drivers from Team Japan and Korea all use works drivers. Let me find that article
Goshinboku
some of the new onoff's as well have quite open faces. like the 450cc head they currently have out is i believe 1.5* open. from my experience these onoff's in particular i would equate to a titleist driver in terms of performance and feel, etc.
gocchin
The top 3 long drivers in Japan currently are part of the Works golf team and they hit the Works Distance Rod. The lowest loft available though is only 9.5. All three drive over 400+ yards. The great thing about the ZR600 and why so many Srixon staffers used it too was that the true loft was in fact also lower than the stated loft like the Yamaha 425V. LOL...just j/k Cheers -Keng
BigEasy
TourStage X-Drive 405 was the hottest driver I've tried. I've recently tried the 430P and the 435 but they both were not as good as the 405. I had one at 9.5* with M-65 and it was the longest driver I've ever tried. I'll probably try the same head and shaft with X flex this time. You might want to try 8.5*. Good luck!
ROBOPTI
Thanks a TON for the responses guys .. I am not after a longdrive club per se - Just a good head with HEAT. I did have a few of the Works 460 prototype heads and they caved in fairly easy but had HUGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! length. I LOVE the look of the TourStage stuff kkcheo - Good to see you too ... I have been away too long. Truth be told - I bought 3 Cally drivers from TSG before I even knew BSG existed LITERALLY Anywho - Thanks gang .. I'm browsing

I think you should definitely give the Srixon ZR-700 with it's new starburst face a try, it's replaced all the ZR-600's on the Japanese tour and some of those guys have 120mph swings... T, that's the one I just PM'd him about ! I think that club in an 8.5* head with one of the factory upgrades (I saw a few with Diamana Whiteboards, 73 g) might suit quite nicely. Bat
One of the lowest spinning (460cc) driver out there is the Tourstage X-Drive 460. It has deeper face and even lower spin than my previous J33 460 and WAY lower spin than my current X-Drive GR. I haven't tried the 445 or the older 430, but I hit the 460 way lower than the 405 and the 435. If you like deep face driver you'll love the X-Drive 460. Dead square at address and solid feel at impact. I didn't care for the color scheme of the Quattro Tech shaft but have to admit that it has a nice kick and tight dispersion. Or you can save a bit and go with the stock shaft if you already have other shaft in mind. I think it's available in 8.5* in the pro shop. For $599 I think you're going to have a hard time finding a better head. Bat Btw, I know it said "medium/high trajectory with low spin" in the pro shop but I personally didn't launch it any higher than my previous J33 460 which is a low launch / low spin head. Hope this helps
gocchin
Bat has chosen a good one too, the new X-Drives are very true to loft and do spin low, I think the 460 with stock shaft was doing 1800 to 2200 on the Vector...
