Hey everyone ! I was looking at face progression and its been so long on the study I got mixed up. Which is the less offset ? the higher number face progression or the lower, example is 3.5 is less offset then 3.0 or the other way around.

Hi Breal, larger number is less offset. ie the face progression of an AF-301 iron is 3.75 and for the AF-701 5 iron which has more offset it is 1.75

Offset is measured from the leading edge of the hosel to the leading edge of the face. This is the most common method that is used by most golf manufactures…but there is a problem with this. While it is assumed by many that offset is a uniform measurement, it is not. Different manufacturers have different hosel widths. So, two clubs with the same “offset” could have different offset measurements. Confused yet?

Face Progression is the uniform way to measure “offset.” Face Progression is measured from the center of the hosel to the leading edge of the face. Because the center of a hosel will always be the center no matter how thick the hosel, this measurement can be accurately compared to other club lines or other manufacturers products.
