jared715
Would like to start by saying hello! Been reading the tsg forums for a litlle while now. Enjoy seeing what you guy's have to say ( chris, gocchin, spoon, idrive)!! I am a 1.2 handicap and an equipment ho! I have a full repair shop in my basement and always messin' with clubs. And now I am wanting to get full set of japanese clubs. I like the look of those gold's cb's and putters. Would like to know how much offset those irons have. I would like the least possible. Also one of those pics looks like they have a misty kinda black finish. Mabey just the pic. Know anything about that chris? As far as driver/ woods i would like somthing with an open clubface/ flat lie angle. Let me know what you all think and I'll talk to yall later!! landshark
welcome to the forum. i got hooked a couple years ago and envious of some of these members and their equipment. i took the plunge earlier this year and got some tourstage viq forged irons. really glad i have them. it's contagious though. now on my list is the geotech forged iron heads. if only i had a bigger budget i'd have the whole bag from this site. good luck
K2_2
Welcome to TSG! I'll let a Gold's expert chime in on the irons. As for woods... I don't know if they are open, but the 430P and 460P from Tourstage are square, and atleast one of the two is fade biased. Also, you might want to look at the Mizuno Craft drivers, as I think those can be ordered with custom lies (I'm not sure about the fairways...). A third option would be the OnOFF Plus driver; you should be able to set that up to be a few degrees open and flat as well. As a 1.2 you probably don't need much advice on your game but if you want to post some info on your current sticks and what you would like to improve upon with your new set, that might generate some additional suggestions. Welcome to the nut house when people buy and sell clubs at the speed of light. As for the Gold's CB, there was a all black option but the run was sold out. I believe Chris said recently, they can be ordered again at a COST. Most lower loft JDM drivers aim the low handicap marker would hvae a square or open face such as Srixon, X drive. As a cheaper experimenet, check out one of the pro spec Geotach drivers that is 1 to 2 degree op with lie angle of 58 or 57 vs. the Epon EMB's of 61*. gocchin
Welcome to the forums, the Gold's Factory irons are indeed very nice but you should definitely explore your options as there are just so many choices out there! While many drivers have closed faces, there are in Japan what is referred to as "Athlete" models, specifically geared towards low handicapper and pro type players. Most of those models are square to open faced and feature a flatter lie. K2_2 mentioned some very good drivers above and other good choices are the PRGR 501 Tour and Yamaha 425v Tour, all considered Athlete models. Tim Elvin
THNX guys! I'll let you know what I go with!! This world off golf is amazing , I've been playing nearly 50 years and was a pro for 8 and when I say Chris has got it right , he has the best tour site available. I've done the job this year and I've got all Tourstage gear. I bought a set of Miura's first and then a set type J Epon irons which I have settled with. All wedges are either Epon X or Scratch which have been made. Yoko Ando at Epon throught Chris will make you the best set of clubs you could wish for. I've got a few Drivers now from Cleveland Type J to Tourstage 460p Limited Edition. I've just had the new Axiv X shaft put in a Driver and what a grat shaft penitration is fantastic. You will not look back once you get that pure feeling from Japaneese finished clubs. Have agreat winter getting your 2008 gear ready to get to scratch.
