I know the White is a great driver shaft (playing one currently) but how would it be as a fairway shaft, say a 3 wood? Most people use the Blue or Red for fairway but much less with a White. Any experience comments would be appreciated.

Technically speaking, some shafts are just not good when cut short... and this is very depending on the distribution of the shaft rigidity. All shafts have measured tip, center/mid and butt section stiffness measurements and every shaft varies dramatically which is why there are no standards.

From what I have "seen" and can hypothesize as I've never used the White as a FW but have the Red, is that the White would be a good FW shaft thanks to it's stiff tip and soft butt.

Some shafts which are soft tips and stiff butts wreak havoc when cut down for FW's, first of all because the tips are TOO soft and secondly because the butt was the stiffest part of the shaft in the first place... cut short makes the butt even stiffer creating a shaft that even at R flex can give not the acutal flex but the "feel" of an X flex shaft.

This I have learned the hard way as I play my FW's an inch shorter than standard and I typically use high end driver shafts trimmed at the butt to go into my FW's.

I play White in my Nakashima 3 wood best result I have yet.

The White is supposed to be a mid launch and low spin shaft. I normally play my 3w at 43". The English Diamana site recommends 1/2 in. tip trim for FW so the butt trim to length would not be too bad.
