balata7272
1st post so please be gentle. Just found this site and think it's awesome. I recently had trouble with distance control with my 7 iron, went to a small golf shop in Orange County, CA and they spec out my irons and told me that the flex of my shafts were not all the same, they were inconsistent. Well to make a long story short I started looking around and swinging other clubs. I really liked the feel of the Miura blades and KZG blades (don't know the model number). That's the only two blades they had there. Currently I play Mizuno MP 29 w/rifle tour flighted 6.0 shafts. The guy at the shop told me that some of the shafts are not consistent and the cost of getting a set of good new shafts start at $200 and goes up from there. Now I'm thinking about upgrading my current set and getting a set of Japanese club because he said I have Mizuno clubs made for the US market which has suspect quality control at best. He said I will never see hozel weights in JDM clubs like the ones in my MP 29's because they have much better quality control. Therefore I was thinking about replacing my set. I prefer the blade look, a thin top line, small/medium sized head, and slight offset. I also like the forged feel, I think the MP 29 looks and feels great no complaints here they just don't make these clubs anymore. My question to everyone here is......what do people suggest I look at as replacement clubs? Miura, Fourteen, Scratch golf, Gold, PRGR, Tourstage, etc....... I'm open to suggestions, please include model number so I can search for pictures. Correct me if I'm wrong, I get the feeling that most if not all high end JDM forged clubs are going to have a very similar feeling (soft and solid feeling) just like my Mizuno's, its just a matter of what head shape is the most pleasing to me. Clubs: Mizuno MP 29, 1-SW Swing Speed irons: 94 handicap: 9.8 P.S. Also if anyone knows where I can buy JDM clubs at a good price that would be helpful, I'm not made of money you know...haha. I do travel to Tokyo about once a year for business, planning to go in March/April '08 so I can buy them in Japan if that makes a difference? thanks, Mike

You should spend time in going thru the proshop and all the old post on J spec stuff before settling in a new set.

Blader-X
After doing some research I have narrowed it down to Miura 2008 MB-5003 blades, Miura LE Blades, Miuraism SB-02, Yururi flat back, Gold Factory flat back, fourteen TB-1000, Tour stage X-Blade limited Edition 2 and 3. Does anyone have any suggestions or can tell me some pros/cons of these clubs? thanks..... Mike The short answer is you can't go wrong with any of those pics. The long answer is well . . . how much time do you have?!! The new Miura 5003 are definitely very popular at the moment and a great choice. I still play my TourStage X-blade 2's and still love them very much. Great feel, small clubhead and the thinnest topline that I've seen to date. Not the most forgiving nor the most popular. Seen and hit the Fourteens but still to chunky for my taste. The Yururi flat back are also reported to be very easy to hit and have a super soft feel as well. As far as feel even though all are JDM not all have the same feel. JDM is far superior to any Domestic product in my opinion and the main reason why I switched. If you research the old posts you will find a two differing opinions in terms of feel. Some prefer Miuras which are forged mainly in Kyoei and others prefer the feel of Endo (TourStage/Epon, etc). I have not hit Miuras so I cannot comment on them but there are many others here who will write you pages upon pages about them. Really it all boils down to what looks good to your eye and then from there on in its a matter of trial to see what feels good to you. If you know what you're looking for and your specs, just keep reading and researching and you'll boil it down to what you want. Welcome to the journey. Take the time to invest some time and you'll be rewarded. Welcome to the site.
