xchangmanx
I'm gonna buy an EMB, and I'm lookin for input on what you guys choose. Stock is 46" but I don't normally play 46... I'm 5'6 and just wondering what length shaft you guys got in yours...
leekuosing
I 'm 5'7" and my 12 * EMB uses the stock shaft in R flex D0 45.5" 297 grams. Prior to this my TM R7 460 & Burner TP were 44.75" both D0 using TM Rombax 55 gram shafts. My 460 ZR is 45" D0. I thought 45.5 would be difficult to control and hit consistently but lo and behold its the most consistently straight and easy to hit among the lot. No such thing as tight fairway. Only thing with the EMB is that I can't go anywhere but straight; which is actually a plus in my case. This is why I have the 460ZR around. I see you have the AF101 already. Been thinking about getting one of those. If you can live with the sound of the EMB, its a great club to have. Hope this helps. All the best. gocchin
As I mentioned T, I'm playing 46" and I'm 5'4"... I also thought I'd be less accurate with the longer shaft but nope... I can hit it just as well as my old 460ZR that was 44.5" T

Phillip Alexander
6'2" and play a 44.5" driver. I do have the Epon 3 wood. It is 42". I did have to put a bit of lead tape on the back to get it to D0. Golf and golf clubs are a very individual thing.
driverhead
I use sub 60 gram or low 60 gram shafts at 46 inches on all of my drivers now. Im 54 years old and that setup allows me to be competitive length wise with all but the longest power hitters. Thats the longest club length I can still be consistant with. I have no trouble swinging 47 and 48 inch drivers in certain conditions but 46 is the magic length for me now. indharbor
I am 5'10" and playing 46 inches EMB 9'. Consistancy is not an issue with the driver since it's so forgiving.
xchangmanx
Thanks guys! I pulled the trigger w/the 46", and I'm sure it'll work. Also ordered me a pink rombax!! gonna sample that bugga in the AF101.
s-yardie
Guys, Any issues with the lie angle? I saw on the website that this was 62*(!). I'm the same height as you guys (5'6). I'm pretty intrigued by this driver and was wondering if this was an issue. Also, does anyone know the SW on the 46 inch? Thanks!

D2 at 46" And it is a bit upright for me (I'm 5'4") but apparently being upright is more forgiving on a driver as it help square the face especially with longer shafts. With the force of the downwards swing the head flattens out at the bottom and the upright lie compensates. Tom Wishon wrote: "The longer the length of a club, the more the shaft can “droop downward” under the effect of the golfer’s downswing characteristics. Drivers are usually the longest club in the bag, and also possess the most flexible shaft of all. Therefore, to counteract the greater “droop bending” of the shaft in the driver, the driver lie angle is made to be more upright."

I'm guessing the 46 inch isn't too unwieldy for you or affects your ability to hit the center of the clubface? Just not used to using a club with such an upright lie angle. gocchin
I thought at first it would be too long as I was used to playing shorter than 45" but I thought I'd give it a try and at worst cut down the butt... but it worked out and 46" actually helped me gain distance! dorkman53
I'm 5' 9" and I went with the Axiv X @ 45.5" on my 12 degree EMB. It's a fantastic combination of distance, forgiveness, and accuracy. The shaft kicks great, but in a very controllable fashion. My buddies could be just a bit jealous, I fear..... xchangmanx
Bought the Stock EMB 9* stiff. Played for 3 weeks. Very long but hooking alot. Put a Rombax pink 6x07 stiff cut to 44.5. Vector says a 18 yrd and a almost a degree of difference on launch from the stock GD shaft for me. I stay around 103-105 this club is great. Fantastic medium flight w/around 2500rpm and tons of roll. I really enjoy the smoothness feel of the rombax x series, specially the 7x07s and x. I honestly like the feel of the rombax mated w/the 460zr more than the solid smooth kick of the GDMD7. MD7 wins over ball flight and ball speed. I just prefer the rombax feel. Back on the EMB. Pink rombax is cool to look at... comments all around, and the forgiveness is great. I am thinking about reshafting mine too since my bad shots were all hooks. Thanks!
