As I anxiously await my new Miura 5003's which are being built, I am using my old irons to practice on the range. I recently purchased a Tourstage 9" bag online, and have been using it to house my clubs... and it really has me frustrated. Every time I put irons back, or take an iron out, 3 others come out with it. Grips get stuck, irons stick out as they try to settle and usually I get to the point where I want to slam the darn thing in there. I know you know what I am talking about.

Now this certainly is not a Tourstage issue. Seriously, how hard is it to make a bag that EASILY fits a driver, putter and 9 irons. I don't even have all my clubs together yet, and here I am contemplating other alternatives.

I know they make 9.5" bags, but I am not sure that's going to eliminate the problem. Plus, I walk almost all courses, and although I am not completely against hauling a staff bag around, I thought a stand bag should be able to hold what I have.

What to do...?

Thx

Mike

I also get frustated by club cluster in the golf bag.

im currently using a sun moutain pencil style bag its only got 2 dividers and im pretty shocked as the stand bag i had was much more frustating.

The best stand bag i have owned was made by ogio the divider section was the best ive used to date.

the bag lasted years but the ring that held the strap got rusty over time and gradually grated through the strap.

this then opened the door for a new bag i chose a taylormade lightweight stand bag but that didnt last the course of time and frustrated the hell out of me with club cluster!!!

maybe one day i will splash out on a more exotic jdm bag it will have to tick all the right boxes though!

New driver first though :atsg_smilie_pot:

Oh, I had a callaway bag before this one, and the ring tore through the loop. Target special at its best.

I see one here on the site that has 14 dividers, a Nike bag. That sounds like it may help quite a bit, but for appearances, I'd rather have another brand :).

ComoCome / Miura need 14 divider bags...

honestly the best bags pound for pound are the ping bags. they have neat dividers for every club and more for your wedges and woods and drivers.

for obvious reasons i dont use one though

@spoon,

Yea, I used to have one a long time ago and it was nice. Same thing with me though... won't use one.

@xxio

I thought that Kabuki system was to try and eliminate bag chatter by resting the heads further apart. Does it eliminate the grip problems as well? Also, I wonder if any of their tour/cart bags have them.

I've seen some 10" bags out there that might be easier for club organization.

I've been very happy with my bag from BagBoy. I've had it going on a couple years now and couldn't be any happier. Had some issues with the Mizuno bags in regards to zippers. I like top divider system of the BagBoy. Its divided into 7 sections with 3 full length dividers. I can't say that I've really had any issue with it. I'm kind of particular in how I separate my clubs so each one has a distinct spot in the bag and I think this does help to keep it organized. I do think though, that once you get fourteen clubs all together in a 9 inch bag its going to be tight squeeze no matter the bag, the BagBoy included. I've had Pings and have never had any issue with them. Always a solid choice those bags as well. The one thing the BagBoy has over the Ping is the BagBoy doesn't have that giant Ping logo down the side. All in all though, I've found the Ping Hoofer and the BagBoy to be the best bags that are out there in terms of overall satisfaction, including comfort of carrying. Still though, I'm always on the lookout for a "better" bag. Here's an old thread from TSG on this topic which includes pics of my BagBoy currently still in use:

Thanks blader

Yea, I think with a full set I am going to need a 10". The tour bags are looking more like what I might need to go with. I know they don't have stands, but I am used to (and partial to) a single strap, they seem to offer more room in general, and I need the exercise anyway :)

I try to keep only two clubs per slot, but that gets hard with all those pitching wedges. My driver shaft gets banged up too, as I have to keep the putter somewhere.

Sounds good. I too am thinking for the tour bag eventually and combining that with a push cart. I'm finding that I'm starting to get a little taxed on the last few holes and am attributing that to just getting a little older. Plus, those tour bags do look very sweet.

Any bag smaller than 10" and doesn't have individual pockets per club will get stuck... even the best bags have this problem. I went to golf town and got those plastic tubes that you can trim to length and then slide down the pockets. This way every club is technically in it's own tube and it also keeps the shafts from rubbing up against each other. The tubes also weigh next to nothing so there really is no added weight... if I recall correctly they were less than a buck each too.

Bingo. This is the best suggestion so far. Practically can use any bag you want just buy the plastic condoms for your sticks.

Yup, I've been using the same condom's as you say for the last 4 bags I've used... I just bought 14 tubes the first time and insert them in what ever bag I'm using and you can't even see they are there from the side.... only the top.

As you see below they do a good job of keeping the clubs nicely laid out.

So gocchin,

What size bag is that, 9.5"? Did you take out the sections so that it is one big hole?

I am going to see if I can find the tubes... thanks for the suggestion.

I see you guys have a Mizuno bag that is 11"! Nice n big.

Try a different solution in Sun Mountain MPB with 13 individual full length dividers plus a putter well. This bag has plenty of storage plus double strap and legs. The problem with tube/condom is that they do get pulled out along with the clubs at times although it is suppose to be interlocking.

BINGO!

Found this. Works perfectly, and no club chatter to boot.

I will be putting the tourstage bag on sale soon, so keep an eye out if you'd like it.

I don't have any experience with the bag boy locking system, but have read reviews that they tend to be a bit hard on shafts coming in and out of the bag. I liked the idea, but chose to go with the Bennington Lite Organizer. It's on the heavy side, but I can carry as much, or as little as I need. Having the individual iron slots protects from bag chatter better than any other system. I haven't had any issues with use or QC. Might be worth checking out.

Brian,

This is interesting to hear because I was considering this bag for a while.

Two things have held me back thus far.

One was the weight as you mention and the other was the wear and tear on the organizer top. Plus I wasn't finding too much feedback on this bag.

How is the bag holding up in these two areas?

Also, what about the individual dividers? Are these pretty easy on the club shafts? Easy to pull out and return?

Thanks for the feedback.

Froggy10,

I'm not a regular walker, so the weight is less an issue. I've had no QC issues with this bag. The dividers allow the clubs to work easily in and out of the bag with no friction on the shafts. That's the reason I avoided the Bag Boy bag. The only thing I have to manage is that I carry 3 hybrids, 4W and driver. The hybrid slots are only on the cart bag, not the stand bag. I love the bag, but am looking at a new one for walking. With the build quality and full length protection of the slots, I don't know if they can make the bag lighter without sacrificing some degree of quality.
