Callaway Legacy Driver

Just received my Callaway Legacy Driver with the upgraded MD-6 Shaft. Will be playing tonight so I will give my initial review and comparison with my Hyper ERC that I have. Question..If you look on the G-One-Golf website for Callaway clubs, it shows a picture of the bottom of the club with a "bore through" hosel (I think thats how you would describe it) yet on the my club and the Callaway Japan sight, it does not show this at the bottom of the club. Have any idea why or do they make two different versions?

That is actually the port for their Opti-fit system to easily swap shafts. Those heads have not gone retail yet in Japan as far as I know.

Let us know definitely how that Legacy plays... should be nice!

Just played a quick nine holes with Legacy. Initial impressions are as follows:

1. Definitely more muted sound that Hyper ERC. Does not have the tin, loud, explosion sound that ERC has when striking ball.

2. Face appears to be deeper than ERC, at least it looks a little deeper in my opinion.

3. Head shape a tad longer from face to back of club.

4. Sole (bottom) of club looks just like the ERC.

5. Sticker on the club says it assembled in Japan so it looks like the entire club is made in Japan! (I have seen other clubs that say assembled in China when I thought it was a Japan made club)

For me, what makes this club is the MD-6 shaft choice (with the help of gocchin). The MD-6 keeps the ball flight much lower for me than the stock SR shaft I had with the ERC. It took me a few holes to get use to it but definitetly much more piercing. As a result, I have gained a few more yards.

Just got off the course and have played several rounds with the Legacy. In my opinion, the impact "sound" of the Legacy is much more pleasing than Hyper ERC, much less tinny, hollow sound and much more solid feeling when hit dead on.

This is my first experience with the MD-6 upgrade shaft. It definitely keeps the ball lower and I definitely get much more roll gaining about 5 extra yards with the Legacy. For me so far, it is a more difficult shaft to control. With my Hyper stock shaft, I could certainly get away with bad shots. I could not go right with that shaft and my misses would hook and left would come into play on a bad day.

Just the opposite is happening with MD-6. This shaft will not let you hit it left so my bad shots stay to the right. This shaft forces you to have a good swing. When hit off center, ball still travels with only slight distance loss. Still learning to get use to shaft but it is a shaft for people who want to keep left out of play and wanting lower trajectory. Overall, great club and definitely an improvement over the Hyper ERC!
