I think the sound is much more solid than hitting the SUMO square driver. Friends that I golf w/say its so intimidating they don't want to hit after me. If your not much of a loud driver kinda guy.... Just try to look past the sound and you'll be amazed at how straight this thing goes. Nothing but long straight bombs.

To all who have never heard an EMB here it is.

The rombax feels solid, but I think the EMB stock shaft is also very good. I still preserved it... @ 46 inches I was surprised how well I could manage the length. Some of my longest drives were w/the stock shaft,... just way left.... But I'm a smooth swinger so I managed pretty well... I'll prolly go back to the stock shaft for fun.

You're right on about the sound, it is definitely loud but it's more like a "Hear that, I killed it" loud. When I first got the EMB it shocked me how loud it was and I guess it's that way when you're the person hitting the EMB, but then many times in groups behind me they would say things like "That sounded like a good one" or "Sounded like you caught that one good". Then I began realizing, yeah it's loud but it's a kick ass loud. (^_^)

I warn people that I haven't played with about the sound before I hit my first drive...

My buddy and I caught up to the group ahead of us the other day... I had played with of the guys we caught up to.. they said "we knew that was you coming when we heard the katank".

Very intimidating sound. I have yet to have anybody complain about it. They all want to take a swing with it.

Long and straight but, I have learned to draw or fade it on command now. Easier to work than most people think.
