Blader-X
I'm asking all you fellow TSG'ers to chime in and let me know what kind of finishes you've got on your Gold's Factory or George Spirits putters. Here's the deal. I'm currently considering picking up the GS LT-1 putter. However, I'm worried about the finish holding up since this putter will definitely see quite a bit of play. I'm thinking of having the finished changed after I get it to something a little more durable and I wanted to see what others here have found with their own putters and what finishes you've liked/disliked and such. Many thanks in advance for your opinions/inputs.
hornyjuan
Have a few GD putters in black teflon that will probably last forever. Also a few in ss and satin finish. The only finishes I would be afraid of are chrome, black chrome, and maybe the stock finishes like silver star for GS. I personally have not dealt with GS putters but if the silver star is similar to the GD putters then they will show signs of wear. I'm sure you know how to take care of your putters. Simple things like wiping them down and making sure they aren't moist when you leave them in the putter cover for extended periods of time. Chrome, black chrome, oxide finishes will get torn up with any kind of moisture. Also keep in mind the finishes will yield different feels as well as how aesthetically pleasing to they eye you want the finishes to be. HungryPillow
I've got the Soft Black finish on mine and it looks like it should hold up pretty well (mine is still brand new though ) While we're on the topic though, I'm curious and never asked, but what kind of steel are Gold's Factory putters made out of? idrive
I have 4 different finishes... IMO the matte black is the one that will show the most wear. I have used that Putter extensively and it is starting to show some fading around the edges. AGAIN, it has been used many many times in all kinds of weather conditions. I also put a cover on after every shot. (wish I had a dollar for everytime I have) It has not worn prematurely, just a bit quicker than the other finishes. I sent it off to be refinished in Teflon recently. I am expecting it back any day. Just a side note... I took my custom, made for me, Scotty Cameron SSS Newport Beach out to the Putting Green yesterday.... what I noticed was my ball skidding almost everytime I hit a Putt over a couple of feet. My Golds with the PZ insert just doesn't do that. Such a big difference in roll. The GF puts a much better roll on it. I have two GF Putters with the PZ insert and will have one anyday now with the PZ face milling. Excited to compare them...
