Mjr. D
Anyone know if you can get those headcovers? Also, the original Epon Type J irons. What are more forgiving. Gold's cavity backs or Epon Type J's? Thanks. Here's the link - http://www.golf-rescue.com/gf.html Edited March 5, 2009 by Mjr. idrive
Which headcover? The sock? I have played both, alot. Forgiveness I would give to the Gold's. It is not much difference. But the Gold's CB's, IMO, are slightly more forgiving.
Duffer19
We know the Gold's is using the Vega 40th anniversary line/head for its new mb and cb but was the old CB from Kyoei too? It does look a bit like the V-Cavity.
Mjr. D
Sorry not the head cover, the iron cover. My mistake. Good to know about the forgiveness factor. I might pass now considering I was hoping they'd be on par forgiveness wise, to Callaway Fusion irons. Obviously that's not the case. For the record. What feel nicer, Gold's cavity's, Epon Type J's or the Epon Af 301's? Edited March 5, 2009 by Mjr. Diarrhea
Mjr. D
Sorry guys, i'm apparently loosing my mind. Here's the iron cover -
idrive
IMO, If you are hitting the ball well they both feel fantastic. The Gold's have a slightly more clicky feel. When hit flush I'm not sure one feels better than the other. The sound off of the epons is more muted. Again the difference is so slight. I'm not sure the shaft isn't the most important factor in deciding between the two. I'd take the Gold's hands down over the Fusions any day... are the Fusions really forgiving? No offense but they look.... well lets just say they're not my style. :) I guess I should go and hit them before being so judgmental. I also played the J's and Af301's. I'm going to say that you can't tell the difference between them. I couldn't. Sweet covers, let me know if you find a set. Pick one up for me. Mjr. D
iDrive - I love you! I love your passion for equipment and quality! Ya, the fusions...... very well liked by most. I went through my dark days with them so i kind of want to get rid of them. Don't need any mental reminders if you know what i'm saying. They're not forgiving forgiving but they're definitely a lot wide sole and top line and bigger all around face than Epon Type J's. I have a set of Mizuno MP-37's and i love them. I remember when i wont the Type J's and finally received them; I was shocked at how small the head on those things are. Are most japanese heads smaller than american? Either way, if you're a decent ball striker, you should have to be too concerned with forgiveness. I like the challenge of a less forgiving iron in most cases. Forces you to concentrate harder and if that doesn't work, at least forces you to work at your game more. So what's the shaft of choice if you were buying a new set of Gold's CBs?? What and why? I have Nippon Super Peening Blue's with my Type J's Dynamic Golds with the Mizuno Mp-37s Black Golds with the Fusions. Don't like the different kickpoints in the black golds. I don't want a shaft to do things, i want my swing to do things to affect trajectory. Thanks. Oh and P.S. I'll grab you a set if i can find em. xchangmanx
Hey Mr D, might want to check out the comparo pics between the 301 and the AF tour I posted on the other thread... not much difference in size if you ask me. The 301 has more meat on the bottom of the back/bottom to help the ball get up and thicker sole. One of the best iron designs ever if you ask me. The AF tour is shockingly forgiving for me so far.... It has been hard for me to tell the difference besides workability and look. I've played Vega stuff and never really a fan as I've prefered Miura over Vega and Epon over Miura... And out of "kyeoi" (I think thats how its spelt) I've only liked the raw wedges and the tour seida's spin. I believe GF uses vega forges and also yururi. But I have never hit a GF blade or CB. gocchin
There were once a lot of those iron covers floating around but now so hard to get. There were not cheap either as they had the oil hole which allowed you to oil the iron while it was in the cover.
