Spoon
guys with all the new shaft offerings PX hybrid shafts, oban hybrid shafts, nspro 950 hybrid shafts and even the kbs tour hybrid shafts. what are the advantages of graphite vs steel on hybrids? i use graphite on my hybrid utilities yet use steel on my driving irons http://www.eponforged.com/products/view/id/11 is the 901 even considered a hybrid? i am contemplating trying out the kbs hybrid or even use my extra 2/3/4 iron px HL shafts. if anyone has tried it let me know. plan on reshafting my 2/3/4 driving irons with these ones. i am hitting the 22/25 amazingly with the nspro750s. i know i will regret reshafting it but i want to feed my curiosity. help. Unfortunately, i think a lot of guys expect or want the hybrid to be longer than the club it's meant to be replacing.... not sure why, as then you end up with a big gap. Anyway - i got my Epon 301's from Pw to 4 iron, then a 901 at 19deg as a halfway 3 and 2 iron and hybrid replacement - hybrids and me get too hooky on the course, and the 901 offers almost as much forgiveness as a hybrid while looking enough like an iron. And i had it shafted with the same shaft as my irons - so the 901 thru to 301's are all PX - works great. No sudden huge change in length and using the same shaft means keeping same/close swingweight is actually meaningful. I'd say use those spare PX shafts you have first.... you can always reshaft later (even to graphite if you want...), but especially for the higher lofted 901's - think you'll like having them with the same shaft as your irons. Coops thanks, hitting the 750s very well i bumped up sw to d3.5 to get the ball nice and elevated, that coupled with the low kick 750 is perfect but shaft does indeed feel light. may do the transition and get some ns950 utility shafts to bridge gap to my 5i. my 25 is same length as a 4i so fills in nicely. may leave the 22 alone. will have more updates soon.
