Help me to find a new DRIVER.

Currently, I'm playing EMB 9* with Stiff stock shaft. Now, Im almost losing golf buddies because of the sound EMB makes. so Im looking for a new driver. I will really appreciate your advise.

SS: 95-100

Average distance : 230-235, Good hit : 245-250

Use a lot of hands and wrist but dont really have much problem keeping the ball in play. I wonder why :)

Steep down swing, so never had problem making a ball airborne(I believe this is where I lose distance. I dont really get much roll.)

Priority to find a driver : 1.DISTANCE 2.forgiveness 3.face design(hate drivers with small hitting area)

Right now my eyes on 1.Kamui 456 HI-COR 2.Yamaha 2010 Inpres D201 Type S 3.Epon AF-151 4.Royal Collection 2010 SFD

Any recommendation? Specially I'd like to know about their stock shafts. Are they any good?

Another question. I always used driver with stock shaft because I thought I have slow SS, so premium shaft woudn't make big difference. Am I wrong? then, can you recommend a shaft for me? Seems like many people love the Griffin, would it work for my swing?

Thank you in advance.

The Kamui driver is by far the best driver I have hit in a long time. I used the Epon AF 101 for most of last season and it was a very good driver but the Kamui is just better is all departments.

As far as distance goes, your shaft choice is the most important decision about the driver set up.

Try the Matrix XCON range, great distance with low spin. The XCON 6 in firm should be ok with your SS.

I have tried a lot of shafts but I keep coming back to Matrix, they are very good.

Another vote for the Kamui.

Long

Forgiving

Face is what you're looking for

and the sound won't scare anyone off.

Shaft: 100mph SS = Stiff flex

Looking for a lower trajectory?

-Graphite Design MD6 Quattrotech

-Matrix

-White board

Guys, thank you for the input. I heard a lot of good thing about XCON. But I just read a comment about XCON5 and the guy liked the Griffin more because of better dispersion. So, I'm kinda leaning toward Griffin. so, one more question to Idrive. I'm getting lessons and my down swing gets little flatter and the trajectory gets lower and piercing. So I dont really need a shaft that lowers trajectory. My question is you are using griffin, so how do you like it?

Also, I have a question to Gocchin! you seem like having similar body type and swing with me :) you mentioned you played Kamui with Griffin. So how did you like it? Also, can you recommend a Kamui and shaft combo?

Thank you everybody.

I don't think you'll like my suggestion, as it's not the coolest of clubs, but I've got to throw it out there. I've owned Epons, I've got a Crews as my backup, I've hit X drives, and just about everything out there. But the one driver I keep in the bag is a Ping G15. Looks good, feels good, and flies an absolute mile. At least give it a shot and see how you get on...

I can (and have) play any combo I want. I haven't hit a head-shaft combo that feels or works better than my Kamui w\griffin shaft. Best combo ever for keeping the Drives in the Fairway. Our swing speed is similar. At 100 mph ss this combo ends up 250.

I don't have any problem recommending this combo to anyone.

The dispersion on the XCon 5 is not bad, it is however a pretty good distance shaft. It will launch higher than the Griffin which is more of a control shaft.

I did have the Griffin in the Kamui but I switched it out because the butt is a bit thicker than I would like and I have small hands.

The 456 is naturally a higher launcher so I would suggest you stay with 9* or 9.5* and a low spin shaft. No shaft can over come a steep downswing which naturally creates back spin on impact, you are probably right this is where you lose distance.

As for a premium shaft over a stock one, there can be advantages when it comes to not only dispersion but spin as well.

Several independent testers actually HIGHLY recommend the 456 with Crazy's Longest Yard shaft. The LY shaft has a huge cult following in Japan as it is a monster distance shaft and a favorite of long drivers. I think I should add it to the pro shop.

It has tremendous kick and low spin and is made of premium carbon.

Do you slice or hook?

My miss shot is hook. As I mentioned, I'm a handsy player, so I rarely miss to the right. I'm very curious about the Crazy shaft. I've seen them on the proshop, but never read any comment or review about it. Long and low spin, that's what Im looking for!! :)

Hi Guys,

I hope this is not what you call thread jacking (new to all this stuff!)

I'm also looking at a new driver and think the Kamui looks great and trying to toss up the same issues, 456 vs 420 and shaft selection. I have a 116mph driver speed with 270 - 285 as a range. The best combo I have had in the past was a titleist 905r with speeder stiff shaft (titleist version) 10.5 loft (so they say) this kept it long but with good dispersion.

Any thoughts on head and shaft combos for this, I know that by the numbers the blueboard s83 is very close to the old speeder shaft I had.

Any help most appreciated
