Bridgestone balls

Hi guys, I'm after some thoughts of those that have used both the B330 tour and the Japanese super newing brill.

What differences do you notice?

Driver launch, spin?

Iron trajectory?

Short game spin?

Putting feel?

Obviously I currently play and am very happy with the B330 tour but am also curious as to whether the JDM ball market can benefit me as much as the equipment has.

Spoon,

What's your swing speed? I plan on trying some 330-S's, because they are supposed to have the "spin factor" that I like, compared to the 330's. I have some I(s)'s now, but haven't tried them yet. I'm most comfortable around the greens, and approach so I gotta' have some spin, but you say the feel on the 330's is good. When you do B-Stone's online fitter, it says that the feel on the 330's is lower compared to the 330-S's. When I did it, it said that based on what I want, I'd like the 330-S. FYI: my swing speed is in the high 90's to very low 100's.

I've played a sleeve of Brills and liked them okay - I felt that they were fairly long and high flying but nothing special in particular. I've just started gaming the B330-S and really like that ball a ton. Not sure which ball I'm going to game for the longer term, whether it's the B330-S or the Penta, but find that I like the spin I can generate with the B330-S - it's got amazing stopping power - but the Penta seems significantly more durable. The Brill is probably more durable than both.

I'm interested in hearing how people compare the B330 to the B330-S. I think I have the swing speed to play that ball (115 ish), but am pretty happy with the S because it's still long off the tee like a Pro V1x but has more Pro V1 like spin (and maybe more) around the greens.

We have to keep in mind here that the Brill and the B330 are meant at different crowds. No one on the Japanese tour plays the Brill as it is primarily meant as a distance ball first, spin second. The Brill was probably the top selling ball for recreational players in Japan especially the average golfer.

A better comparison to the 330 balls would be the X-01 series which is about to be relaunched with new models. These balls are heavily played on tour even by non Tourstage players including Ryo Ishikawa before he switched to the Z-Star XV. These balls are meant for faster swingers and much more serious spin control and performance for the better player.

Thanks T,

Is the Z-Star XV different / significantly different from the Z-Star X Tour played by Furyk, Clark, Stenson, Vijay etc?
