Posted July 10, 201113 yr comment_168783 Could the Honma graphite iron shafts be that good? Here I thought the Crazy shafts were expensive....
July 10, 201113 yr comment_168787 Honma 5 Star shafts are some of the most expensive on the market. Their 5 Star set of irons is even more than what you noted. Retail is around 5750.00 PER Iron.
July 11, 201113 yr comment_168789 nothing new w the honma 5 stars seems that this is a staple with captains of industry, Ceos and some high ranking military locally. i wonder though how they would stack vs the ultra high end crazies etc etc?
July 11, 201113 yr comment_168793 I have a friend who plays a $30,000 set of 5-star Honma irons. It's not just the shafts that are costly but the heads are also adorned with gold trimmings, yes, real gold. I've played 4-star Honmas for a long time and have also tried 5-stars clubs. They are, of course, very good shafts but IMO they are not 'better' than Crazy's shafts. And even if I was wrong about that, I don't think anyone can argue that they are 6x to 10x better being 6x to 10x more expensive. There is a physical limit to how much quality/performance money can buy. Then again, 5-star Honma owners are not paying for quality or performance, are they? Edited July 11, 201113 yr by FrankThong
July 11, 201113 yr comment_168811 As far as graphite shafts go, they are among the better ones. Whether they're worth the cost ... that's rather relative and subjective.
July 13, 201113 yr comment_168862 Thought the days of super lux golf were over since the late 90's/early 00's and Honma was going under. New owners?
