Snapped my 3w shaft.

Today I snapped my 3w with quattro green 75s I doubt it was my ss and was most likely

A compromised tip, I bought a used pull. I also snapped a 75s last year new shaft on my 4w.

It could be my angle of descent etc etc? Borge were snapped on the tee box teed up. Did a

Bit of research and the gd qt is soft tip but I doubt that s the reason.

Ayway I ordered a p9003x for my driver and am thinking of the di7s or di8s to complement. I'm looking

Into GD only. Any inputs or advice? Ss now around 112 ast jerky tempo. Thinking 80+ gram to help with tempo

If you really like it then perhaps a new one? You sound like you need the 80g class. My Ilima 80s has really helped me a lot tempo, easy launch & smooth. I know you're looking at GDs but it's really a great FW shaft.

Bobbin look into the sf ive never tried any of that line.

E, I want something w lower spin, into the wind the shaft tend to balloons as its super high spin.

With the 80s, I didn't have that ballooning tipped 0.5 on a TEE CB3 head. Maybe because its

Heavier? Nice launch. But when I moved it the heavier egg (repainted one) as soon as builder inserted it, it was a shallower bore depth. The heavier head and shallow bore would have played that tip so flexy so I told him to tip a further 0.5". I was worried, so was he.

It worked, flat boring trajectory. Fluke if you ask me.

Maybe your key is on the 80g class of whatever shaft of your choice, follow the

Trimming then trim some more if required for desired ballflight.

I originally had the quattrotechs in my Epon technity woods.

I pulled them (5 and 9 woods) and installed them in the 5,9 egg fw's

I don't think I can count as high as the # of balls I've hit with each.

Never had an issue with breaking..... stopped slamming my club an the ground

a long time a go... as per goodsie;s heads up I'm really careful putting them in the trunk,

taking them out, letting them snag on anything...

"They are tools not jewels" not in my bag!!! treated as jewels :) :tsg_smilie_love:

Sorry.. I just had to say that :tsg_smiley_secret:

I agree about the care needed in owning any set and likewise, I treat my set as jewels but more in the sense of a workingman taking good care of his tools.

It's possible that Spoon was right about about something being wrong with the materials he used though I would also postulate the possibility of error in the assembly. I doubt Spoon goes around slamming his clubs on the ground. I've never met him nor seen him play, but I've seen his used to owns and am very certain he gives his equipment much more tender care than I give mine.

actually i bought a used pull so i have absolutely no idea on how the shaft was treated prior to me owning it.

i take care of my clubs , just as the next person, no special treatment but i do however take the necessary precautions

such as what idrive mentioned.

on a side note i used this club a lot in the mat range a lot and under the mat is a hard concrete surface. gary warned me about

the surface and is one of the leading causes of shaft failure. i also have a descending blow on my woods and have some slight divots

even on my 3w. so likely all of the above including the shaft pull all contributed to the failure.

i from now on will only use my irons, hybrids in a mat range.

I don't hit off of mats anymore. I don't know what took the worst beating,

me or the clubs!!!! starting to ache thinking about it.

Hitting off of hard mats would certainly contribute to shaft failure

im starting to feel the pain of the mat range,

unfortunately the closest turf range is my homecourse which is about 45mins away. no way

il make that trek during the week. the mat range is just next door

A steep swing with the woods or even the long irons is something I've been trying to get rid of. I know it can be made to work but I'm pretty sure it costs distance and demands more muscle than I can produce. The impact probably also has a bill that comes due eventually.

I try to sweep unless the situation will not allow it.

My turn... Brought my kids and the RC 14* recently shafted with the FW 80 to the range today... Snapped the Crazy shaft just above the ferrule... Had hit a couple of smoking shots off the tee then figured I would get a feel of the mat. Bad idea... First hit, beautiful flight mid launch straight as an arrow and about 30" on the net about 220 out. Second shot, thought I made great contact again but it was a 100 yard mini duck hook. Looked down to see the RC head dangling from from the end of the shaft.

Oh sorry day...
