DaleUK
.... Has/Does anyone tried putting left handed when using Right handed Irons/Woods? Allow me to elaborate ... I'm not the worlds best putter, intact if I was resonable I'd be off single figures ..... BUT the other week I was out playing when a member joined me on the course... I noticed that he was left handed and on we went.... After a while the ice was broke and we carried on as if we'd been playing partners for ages! It's then I started to miss the odd putt and my mind suddenly thought, hmmmm I'm going to try the left hand putter! To my surprise I didn't pull the putter once, ok I miss read and under hit a few but they rolled so much better, could this be a one off or is this a left/right sided brain thing here?? It's also fair to say I've had more putters the most so never really settled on a "one putter" thing!!(3rd one this month)
jamnguy1
Yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't work for some people. The whole point is that the ball goes in the hole.
Eca
Its worth a try. I played a few times with a fellow who putts one handed and putts well. Another thing is to get fitted correctly. 1st time today I used my new putter at a shorter length but a much heavier swingweight and I was so surprised by the distance control and how accurate it is on short putts. I found I couldn't manipulate the head when I'm feeling nervous over a 3 footer. I've always had to play putter at 33" & find myself at c9-d0 swigweight. This new one is at d5 & I thought this will take time to adjust to. Boy was I wrong.

Shambles
It makes sense in theory. I was originally taught to pull a putter down the line with my left hand and use the right only to go along, but that never worked for me and I ended up rapping the ball with my right. Putting left handed allows me to pull the putter through the ball more easily. Unfortunately, that's the only thing that works that way for me. I've tried that several times over the years as I have an ambidextrous putter, and consistently failed. Shambles
Eca
Might try the fitting.... Also going to look into a different hand position on the grip.... After years of full shaft offset, went to no offset briefly then now to 1/2 offset. I find this little difference quite significant.

I find this little difference quite significant. Over the years I have always used on and off my Scotty Tei3 Newport ( infact I named my first son Cameron after my trusty putter), but I've now got a faced balanced Tour Ghost Rossa....I find it so much easier to keep square BUT nothing feels like my Cameron!! TK3
Hi guys, I play golf right-handed (7 hdcp), but I putt left handed. I am an ex-hockey player, so I felt more comfortable putting left handed. If you have not tried it before, you have nothing to lose. Merry Christmas boys!
