Vegaman
Does anybody with a bit higher swing speed have any experience with the UL shafts? Like me that swings around 114mph when I swing well and hard, but not out of my shoes. A friend of mine uses the Wyvern and likes it a lot, but he also swings a lot slower than me. Would the Bassara Wyvern 53 in TS (tour stiff) hold up well to a bit more aggressive swing? Or fpr example the Crazy RD in Xstiff? Is the trajectory always on the high side? gocchin
The Wyvern won't handle 115mph even in TS. TS is good for between 105 and 108 at best. The Royal Decoration is played by even tour players and you would probably be an X. It's rare to have lower launching lightweight shafts, as lighter shafts trend to higher launches and heavier shafts towards lower trajectories. Vegaman
Ok Tario, good info again, as always. Thanks. Im not anti high launch per se, just worry about getting very little or no roll. But as long as they are low spin I guess its not a real problem, and of course depending on the head. I have tried a few drivers with softer and lighter shafts recently and weirdly I dont get any excessive balooning or super high trajectory, but I hit them very straight and it all seems so much easier, especially the straightness, than with my W7WA and the 72X miyazaki. This has got me back on the trail for another driver, again.
RIduffer
I tried a few of the UL shafts, although nothing as high end as the Crazy shafts... I just could not get the timing down to maximize the benefit. Tried 40g up to 60g and lost distance each step down in weight, even increasing flex didn't help enough. I was hitting them straight and seemed to be solid contact, but distance loss was significant...

So, a Crazy 460 with all its hitability and ease of use coupled with a bit lower launch and heavier shaft might be the way to go..Thinking time I guess. I have the Wyvern TS 58 gram shaft coming in for a TM RBZ driver 9* tour. I am curious to see if I can pick up any yards with a 10 gram lighter shaft. I think for me 102-108 SS the RD crazy is too much at 49 grams. The RBZ is not a heavy head so going too far with the shaft could back fire for me. We will see. I have a Tour spec motore speeder in there now that is doing a great job and it is a 68 gram shaft.
bogeydog
I still have the Basarra JPGA Griffin shaft. It had stood the test of time and quite frankly is as awesome as always. Crazy kick and mid soon. I would expect the Wyvern to be awesome to.
Robb40
I keep hearing the Wyvern is very good and more affordable than the Crazy RD. The Wyvern I have on the way was a steal at $180. Can't wait to try it in the RBZ. I cannot believe how good this head has been for me after all the dough I have spent on Ryoma,Crazy,Kamui,Yonex. Shankopotamus
Could someone compare the wyvern with the griffin?

My max SS is 108. I tried the RBZ driver with a 58 gram Wyvern in tstiff. I loved it and was getting 15 or more yards out of it. It felt smooth and very stable. I have tried Crazy cb, bangvoo 260cpm, quadra 65s, real Ahina 70s, Kaili 60s, oban Kiyoshi 65xstiff and GD ad-Di stiff and x flex. The Bassara is as stable and more smooth than most of the others. No ballooning or mega high launch. I really want to try a Royal deco SX flex now. The RBZ is a high launch head but my best results were at 8*. I am not sure now how to resist the crazy RD. it has to be as stable or better and provides more kick.
