Posted July 25, 201212 yr I'm considering purchasing an epon 208KGX in copper but having never hit copper wedges, unsure what to expect. Softer? Easier to hit? More control? more or less spin, etc. Also my fitter can bend the wedge that's currently at 56* to just about any loft. My current wedge setup is as follows...my plan would be to replace my 58* chikara wedge and considering having new wedge bent to 60*...thoughts? Epon 502 PW = 45* Epon AW= 50* chikara green: 58* Chikara red: 53*
July 25, 201212 yr I have a 52° KGX208 in copper finish. Can't compare it to other finishes, but I can tell you that the one I have feels very good. Very soft. Spin is great (it's non-conforming). I have a set of 2008 inpres x yammy wedges. They are supposed to be made of a very soft material. But the epons feel softer at impact. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus Edited July 25, 201212 yr by shacco
July 25, 201212 yr Not sure you'd notice much difference in feel or playability with copper. Looks so much better, no glare and helps frame the ball very nicely. IF anything, I would say it does feel ever so slightly softer. (to me) I have the copper technity, X wedge and 208KGX wedges in copper. I always have them bent at the factory to my specs and when it came to the 208 they would only bend it 1* lie or loft. Was told that because of the particular grind/bounce on the wedge that moving anymore than that would change the dynamics of the sole and change the playability of it. IMO bending any wedge 4* weaker is not good. An increase of 4* bounce..... not good unless you're playing it out of some super deep sugar (soft) bunkers or it's very low bounce and want a much higher bounce. Usually 56* wedges are already higher bounce wedges. Epon wil also tell you that anything (Epon) bent past 2* will possibly crinkle the finish.
July 26, 201212 yr I always thought copper would be too soft for wedges. Won't this soft material change shape, specs too easily??
July 26, 201212 yr guys this aint solid copper but just a plating. probably be softer if robots could measure the minute differences between platings but we are homo sapiens so such a negligible difference is not noticeable at least to me. now talking about glare, patina, etc etc is a different story. i would not suggest bending 4 degrees. thats crazy and would totally screw up the design, grinds, bounce and turf interaction etc etc. idrive is right max of 2*, 3 and your pushing it. 4 hell no.
July 26, 201212 yr I wish I could get hold of the KGX208 wedges Full Stop! But as been said in that model,no difference in feel
