Gaijin_Golfer
Is it just me or does it seem like most of the Japanese pros prefer Odyssey putters? It seems like every time I see a, "whats in the bag?" for a Japanese player they list an Odyssey putter. Nothing that theres anything wrong with Odyssey. I current bag one and its a great little flatstick.
gocchin
Yes this is definitely the case. Odyssey makes it in around 60-70% of all tour bags in Japan.

I actually used to kind of be an Odyssey hater (owned a White Hot XG Teron a few years ago and hated the mushy feel) but when shopping for a new putter lately I started to notice that a lot of people who arent Callaway staffers use Odysseys and figured maybe I was missing something. It kind of makes me wonder if maybe that Odyssey I bought before and found to be mushy was a fake because Im loving my White Ice D.A.R.T. blade. I had a white hot xg myself for about a week before I returned it to the shop because the isert was so soft. Mushy so to speek. When I tested it in the shop it was great because you could only hit short puts. But on the course it was terrible for longer putts. No distance control at all. The insert was just too soft. Miuramaniac
I used to hate the feel of the Odyssey putters I would try in shops in the U.S. I recently sprung for a new Odyssey iX White Hot #9 from the TSG and I gotta say it's the best putter I've had. Firmer than the others I've tried in the past, not mushy at all. Very forgiving and just rolls the ball in the hole.
gocchin
I am in the same boat, I did not like the feel of older Odysseys as they were too soft and I did not get enough feedback, the new iX insert has very good feel and is firm enough for good feedback but soft enough for that satisfactory feel.
