Visiting Gold's Factory - New Hand Grind Wedge

Great write up and beautiful photos.

Can they add weight closer to the top line of the head to raise the CG or would that really hurt the performance of the wedge?

Thanks Steve, yes, but then the top line would be thicker.

To get the CG up there are some compromises to be made ie the head can't be quite as tear drop as the one I designed as I took away much of the top line to achieve that shape.

The Toyoshima wedge and Gold's Hand Grind are very close in price.

Difference is Toyoshima, while the wedges are top performers, makes all his wedges the same. Every Gold's wedge is unique and grinded for that specific person, choice of finish, choice of engraving, choice of shape, sole, bounce, leading edge, top line, offset.

Great read! Other than the magic samurai oil, Gold's never up there in my list of consideration of anything. This could well change now. Nice job, T.

Poseable Sailor Moon doll, huh…. Just to add more insult to injury any picture examples from the fourth string camera?

  • 3 weeks later...

Got the finished wedges in today and they look amazing.

Very happy with the way they turned out.

As I had mentioned I decided to keep them clean with just the Gold's logo and dots to indicate the lofts.

The Soft Black finish turned out better then expected!

The shape I think is just perfect and the grind very handsome!

These wedges have already been purchased by a lucky member!!

Japanese wedges usually have high bounce, as Gold's is custom ordered, a lower bounce can be done?

Yes of course you can specify any bounce you want since it is ground from a raw head.

hey tae i meant that as a compliment:)

i notice if you snooze on this forum you lose.

gotta be lighting fast.

i received the head last weak and shafted it. my gosh

its super stellar from the bunkers i LOVE IT. from the fairway

still getting used to it. it shines especially when you open it up.

i hardly use my 59 C grind anymore.

if you let this one go, its scary to think you are happier with your current wedge.

what is it?

I love it too...especially in bunker or thick rough.

I am currently playing with crazy 52 58 combo and james patrick 52 58.

And waiting for the new gold factory.

Will see how it goes..... :)

I am very glad you like it.

it wasn't a back up of a back up.

I actually bought one for my brother since I liked it so much.

But he wanted my old cleveland a month later since his golf buddies made fun of him for playing no name brand(?).

Poor guy.... I asked him twice if he was sure......

I guess some guys who are stuck with usdm only care about titleist, taylormade, and cleveland wedges. :)

I will let you know how gf plays.
