EdGolf
Guys, Any high launching shaft you guys would recommended?? So far, I like the profile of Fire Express 65g but looking at other choices out there.... My brains are dead tired lately with work and too lazy to think so thought I would listen to what other shaft series you guys would recommended? Thanks a million.... wmclarenf1
What weight are you looking for? That would help narrow the list. On the FEX65.. I have only played the FEX55 and I can tell you that it does not launch as high as say the Crazy RD. I am guessing that the FEX65 launches slightly lower than the FEX55 as best so if you're looking at a high launching shaft, FEX65 may not be the best. EdGolf
I play the FEX 65 SR and find the launch acceptable and looking for something else with similar profile. However played also Crazy RD and can't seem to square the head with this shaft :-( Not looking for hitting moonballs but a slightly higher launching than FEX65 would be nice...... Weight ranging from 55 to 65 would be ideal, I think Edited December 17, 2012 by EdGolf

Weight ranging from 55 to 65 would be ideal, I think You already play the LY-01 which is supposed to be the highest launching in the Crazy line? Is that too high? f yes, try the LY-02 which is supposed to launch in between the RD and LY01. If you;re thinking of passing on the FEX65SR and it hasn't been pulled before yet, do drop me a note :-)
EdGolf
Yup the Ly-01 is high launch but don't give me much roll, unlike FE which gives me plenty of roll. Love my FEX65 but just thinking of testing out another shaft to compare to see if I can get that bit more higher launch = slightly more carry + roll. wmclarenf1
Then I think you may need to try a tip stiffer shaft and if you want to stick to crazy, I think the new Proto 519 is tip stiffer. Actually, the TJ-46 may work for you too. I too have found the FEX to be more tip stiff and stable than the RD, LY-01, LY-02 and even the TJ-46. gian11
Ed, If you could determine your optimum launch angle and spin rate I think this would help maximise your distance. In my case, I've installed the N.S.Pro Regio Formula on my D-1 ST and have measured launch angle and spin rate. They are spot on. My current ball speed is 132 lower than what I used to be as I'm still recovering from an injury. For a 132 ball speed, generally according to the chart the optimum launch angle is 14-16 and the optimum spin rate is 3500-3800. My measurement for N.S.Pro Regio Formula + D-1 ST combo, I got between 14-15 launch angle and 3756-3857 spin rate. Now I have more fun watching my ball flight, I can see in my eyes that my drives takes off in the air like an air plane stays in the air and drops slowly. I gained distance of 10-15 yds over my v-spec+cb46 combo. N.S.Pro Regio Formula was designed as a low spin, optimize launch angle, and high velocity that is according to their website. I love this shaft! Here's the chart I got from WRX forum, It maybe an old chart but it works for me.

gian11
N.S.Pro Regio Formula is something I would like to try one of these days.... don't seem to find anywhere selling em thou' Absolutely worthy and performer, they are high modulus carbon shaft too. I prefer this over Quadra FEX, I think I need proper fitting for the QFex. You can order this shaft in tourspecgolf but I wish they sell this here at TSG pro shop. I've been told that this shaft is popular in Japan? I supposed to install the Crazy 513 proto in the D-1 ST as per discussion with Tario but the Regio Formula came in first. I don't want to touch that now, that will be my main gamer for 2013. I'm hoping this will help reduce my handicap when I start playing comp this coming year. gian11
Don't know how to get access to tourspecgolf. Do they even ship out of Japan?? Yes they do. I think you need to register first in their global market website http://global.tourspecgolf.com/en/, been a while when i did this. Once you have your account setup, you can start shopping. But look for the shop that has this banner, they can communicate in english well enough.
EdGolf
Thanks - will give it a try later on. How many models do they have and how stiff is stiff?
gian11
They have 3 models as per below. Type55 - R S X, 52.5g, 55.5g, 58g Type65 - R S X, 63g, 66g, 68.5g Type75 - S X, 75.5g, 78.5g Mine is Type55/S 58g, it felt like an S of a Royal Deco but seems like a flex softer than other crazy shafts that I've used such as the ly01 & cb46. In the launch monitor, I can hit this 7 yds draw but can't do that in cb46 as this shaft wanted to go straight. I'm contemplating of getting the type65/S, I think I could still handle that. lousifers
In case any chance you later put Crazy 513 in this head, I hope you write the review to compare both shafts. I'm using the 513 and love to try anything that can be even better. TIA Mark I've been thinking that too would love to see the difference. The 513 and Regio formula are of different profile characteristics. I might include the Regio formula Type65 range but still debating which flex to go + my swing speed is not yet up to my normal level - I'm still recovering. There's not much info about this shaft here so for those interested, below are specs I pick up from Japan Golf Digest for Regio formula Type65/S they are as follows: CPM = 258 proper driver head speed = 42 to 46 m/s (it seems to cover wide range of swing speed) The cpm for type65/S is lower compared to the Diamana X 60S which is 267 or GD Tour AD BB 6S which is 262. You would see a Stiff flex in one brand is not the same with others. Edited December 18, 2012 by gian11
lousifers
My 55R is on the way. gian11
Wow that was quick - would love to hear your feedback soon Mark! My 513 proto still sitting here, I'm quite happy with my setup at the moment so we'll see. I'll probably do my comparo after the new year holiday. Thanks for the specs of the type55 that's good to know.
