rusty18
Gents-- I've read all of the comparisons on this site and others but I still want to try to squeeze some more info out of you experts! So I have a set of Recpils on the way (125, f4)--based on my driver SS of about 115 (max effort: 110-113 more to be expected), Ennis at UST suggest I tip these a half inch. Currently playing c-tapers in S+: good results, but starting to hate the feel and may be a touch stiff. Plan was to put these in OnOff forged heads. But now I'm planning to pick up the 110x MCI set from TSG as well...hoping I will have a clear winning shaft but if not I'll have a nice backup set :) So, questions: -I've heard that the MCI plays a bit soft to stated flex, but with the stiffer tip and metallic component that sounds counter-intuitive. Also, it seems that the MCI flexes vary greatly with weight class. So, any thoughts/experience on how these play from a flex perspective? -same as above, but feel? --which heads? Eyeing stew's TS 905s, but also considering something more generic like the nike VR pro combo or the cobra amp pro forged (want a more player-esque set along with onOff. So, head suggestions? --which shafts for which heads??? If it where you--do you put the recoils in the ytb combo set, or the onoff forged set? Thanks! chiromikey
I don't know if I'd say the 125 f4s play softer than stated flex...I just think they feel better than their steel counterparts.
RIduffer
On the MCI front, I have them in a set of wedges, 120X. My comparison to the 125 f5 Recoils with wedges on the ends would be as follows. The MCIs play softer than the Recoils, about 1/2 - 3/4 of a flex, and I think for full shots the Recoils are a more stable shaft. The MCIs provide better feedback on touch and 50% or less shots. For my money, between the two I'd opt for the Recoils assuming price is comparable. However that said, I prefer the Tour Attas to either when I can find them for the same price. I just would not necessarily have BE do the builds unless something has changed in his skill level.
