Hi guys,

I wanted to pull my shafts from my irons but awaiting a shaft extractor. I have been getting impatient waiting so I decided to apply a little heat to the hosel , it heated up very quickly I could see the epoxy smoking then I was able to pull the head off without an extractor.I'm just worried I may have applied too mix heat, the shaft tip seems fine or could this have damaged the shaft tip.

Shafts are nippon protos

Please help

If they are steel then too much heat should not be a problem. When extracting steel shafts, i usually skip the shaft extractor unless there is a delicate finish such as the KBS custom series or the PXis with the gloss finish.....Also when heating, there is no need to heat until smoking, a lil patience is better, apply some heat to get the unit warmed up and reapply until the epoxy breaks down and then twist head off.....NEVER twist a graphite shaft off, if u dont have a shaft remover then do not attempt, also apply minimum heat to remove a graphite shaft, shear force is preferred to heat
