Mob
So it looks like the lie angle on my Copper Epon AF302's needs to be adjusted. I am worried that bending the hosel to adjust the lie angle may crack the copper finish on the Epon. Does anyone have any experience with this? chiromikey
Wrap the hosel with masking tape and go for it. Not a problem at all. Edited March 20, 2015 by chiromikey

robbie
haha...i too have a mitchell....dont forget to put tape on the sole too, at least 2-3 pieces to prevent a bend mark and a few wraps around the hosel....the aluminum duct tape does wonders for this process if u are really concerned. Good point...although I only did this when my irons are brand new and have zero marks on them.
Jeffrey Tan
Chiro I had my AF tour chromed bent flat 3.5deg no problems. The best material to protect the hosel is to use impact tape/helicopter tape.. The stuff they sometimes Stuck on new driver when you demo them. Can't advise on the copper finish and whether it will crack though.
clevelaand
Really, the best hosel protectors for bending irons are the Brass Hosel Protectors for $1.99 for two from Golfworks. Just slide them over the shaft and down over the hosel and bend without fear of damage.

coops1967
My copper 301's have been bent without any problem - think a piece of brass shim sheet was used to protect the hosel area. Any GOOD club fitter etc will be able to do it without issue - the copper is not a 'finish' really... any more than a regular nickel chrome is a 'finish' (which it is strictly speaking, haha). Same kind of plating but with magic sauce.
Mob
Thanks guys. I forwarded a link to this thread to my fitter so he can use all these good ideas.
Shambles
I have a bigger problem; I am paying someone else to endlessly mess with my equipment. It's actually a good thing as long as you know what he is doing. I like learning how to do a job and then pay someone else to do it with me watching or at least measuring the results when he declares the job done. I bent a set of clubs once long ago and swore never again. Shambles
chiromikey
I'm too anal to let others bend my stuff anymore. I know 1/2 a degree is meaningless to most builders but I want exact! I even bought a Tour Guage to double check my own work!!! Edited March 23, 2015 by chiromikey
Mob
Got it done, and all went well. They needed to be bent 1 degree upright. He used a brass bending bar to do it. Thanks guys!
