Blades!

Guys I know this has been beaten to death but after searching the archives I still would appreciate your opinions.

I was totally happy with my Buchi vs200's. Then I lost the wedge (Aarrgggh) and started playing my Macgregor vfoils blades. Which I once again loved and started thinking about new blades. For the life of me I don't know why. Every time I play these Macs I love them. But you know how it is.

But which ones and why? Here's what matters to me. Pretty thin sole and top line with some front edge relief on the sole. Not too boxy which means the 8 iron should look more like a triangle than a rectangle - narrow near the hosel. And not real rounded at the toe. I like some angle there.

The ability to mesh some moderate cavity backs for the 4-5-6 irons if my confidence drops.

Great solid feel on good impact - not too soft and good feedback on where you hit them. I don't need a big blade designed for people afraid of blades.

Quality of course. Staying power requires that I like seeing them in the bag!

Right now the leaders in the clubhouse are small Miuras but many of you guys have played them all. What I have read about these are some of the best feeling ever but some complain about size making them vulnerable to the shank. Plus you can add the cb's to them.  Miuraisms while silly expensive are not inconceivable. But I'd rather not plunk down $3+k

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey, Chuck, got to put in a word for the A-Grind blades. They fit your description to a T, and they merge seamlessly with the CB's if you should choose to add any to the mix. I maintain these are way under appreciated clubs with delicious feel, great accuracy, and an understated elegant look that I just don't grow tired of.

Richard, thanks.  I had sort of lost sight of these, but looked again after your post. Yep, these are now strong contenders. I also like the price!

Chris (or anyone who has insight) what's the difference in the r1 vs cmb blades/cb's? How would meshing R1 blades which are a little smaller work with cmb cb's? Now that Richard has awakened me to these he's right, these make a lot of sense.
