Smit,

Scratch irons are on the way! :D

We will be releasing our 2 sets of Blades in about 2 weeks. The raw heads are on the way from Japan as we speak. The first set is the Scratch Classic Blade. It is a small traditional sized blade that is shorter from heel to toe and slightly taller. The second set is the Scratch Tour Blade. It is a slightly larger modern size blade. It is slightly longer from heel to toe. The heads are forged along side our wedges at Ishihara Japan from the same soft heat treated 1018 carbon steel. As with our wedges our irons will be 100% custom hand made for you to your specs. You get to choose lofts, lies, lengths, swingweight, shaft, grip, finish, grind, headshape and stampings. The price for 3-PW is $1250 plus shipping with pretty much any steel shaft except Project X, PX is a $100 upcharge.

Our forged CBs will be released around April 20th. They are the same size and profile as the Scratch Tour Blade. I have been playing a prototype set for about a month now and they are just incredible. They look perfect at address and are very workable. The feel is just butter. On top of all that I am consistantly amazed at just how forgiving they are.

Here are a few pictures for you guys. These are pictures of the raw heads with our S logo superimposed where it will be on the finished product. This will give you guys a good idea about what they look like. I have also added a picture of a raw head at address for each. (the blade address pics are of a 4 iron the CB is a 7 iron) Keep in mind that these pictures are of raw heads that we have not done any work to.

Our first run of irons is limited to about 10 custom sets of each model. Send me an email at [email protected] if you are interested in ordering a set or have any questions.

As soon as we get a set done I will post professional pics of them here and on our website.

Ari, what do you expect the turnaround from order to delivery to be?

Can the classic blade be compared to anything on the market now, size-wise? Is it similar to, or smaller than the TA-1 blade?

Also, will you be limited to 3-PW sets only? Mixed sets okay?

Thanks.

BP,

Turnaround time on orders is about 4 weeks right now.

The Classic Blade is about the same size as the TA1s but just a little bit shorter from heel-toe.

We will be offering 3-PW sets as well as 2-PW sets.

We will be offering custom mixed sets of Tour Blades and Tour CBs for a $300 upcharge starting in about 4-6 weeks. We will actually be using 2 full sets of heads for these combo sets. That will give us the ability to make the set makeup however the customer wants. It will leave us with alot of useless heads laying around but it is simply the only way for us to be able to offer combo sets with a custom configuration.

Ari - you should finish those "useless" heads and offer them as demos.

BTW - LOVE the looks of the classic blade.

I have a set of the CB's and I've hit the blades. These are hands down the sweetest set of irons ever. The blades are absolutely unreal. They look and feel every bit as good as I've expected from Scratch. The feel is truely unmatched anywhere including the CB's. Now don't get me wrong the CB's are definitely sweet, afterall I do own a set, but let's be real, a CB will never feel the same as a blade.

Now to give you guys some history in the past 2 years, I've owned the following sets:

Mizuno t-zoid pro

Callaway x-14 pro

Hogan Apex blade (my experiment with blade)

Titleist 690.cb

Tourstage MR-23 US spec CB

Now I also happen to have access to a pretty much everything out there, so I've at least hit every modern set on the market these days. But as of last month the MR-23's were my holy grail of irons. I truely believed I would never buy another set of irons. Even back when I saw the Scratch Prototypes last year, Ari would tell me, so when are you getting a set? My response, hmmm... I don't know man, my mr-23's are pretty pure. I'm happy with them, I don't think I'll make the switch. boy was I ever wrong...

For these reasons I draw all my comparisons to my MR-23's. For those of you that own the z101's they are very comparable clubs.

I really didn't think anything was going to feel as good as my MR-23's. However the grind on the Scratch suites me a lot better and it actually glides through the grass a lot better and this equates to better feel and better shots. Not only that, but these clubs are so soft, I'm actually considering getting my wedges refinished with the same Nickel finsih.

What really surprised me about my new CB's is that they are actually way more forgiving than my MR-23's. Off center shots were rewarded with online shots with nearly the same amount of distance.

The blades are really sweet. I just don't possess the skill to own them. If I did, I would definitely play them. A mixed set would probably be really sweet, I don't know if I'll go that route, again I just suck at this game and can't own blades. However if it's just one shot on a par 3 I guarantee I will stick it 5 feet from the pin. That's when I go buy a set of blades and reality sets in and I can't hit the damn things(read hogan experiment).

On a sidenote, I wanted to mention that I tried Ari's CB's with the Project X's in them. To be perfectly honest I don't know what the hype is about. It was really the 1st time I've ever hit a whole set in px, and to tell you the truth I almost didn't want to get the set of irons, because of those shafts. They kick really funny, I don't really know how to describe it. Performance wise I guess I couldn't really tell the difference, but feel wise they are really weird. The 2 shafts are completely different animals. If you're considering px's I would go try them out in other clubs before ordering. They completely change the feel of the club.

:)

The Classic Blade is as pure as it gets. I wish I had a better swing so I could play them.

That is exactly what I plan on doing. We are going to be selling one prototype combo set out of our first run of irons so I can send the other heads around to TSG members as demos. In the next couple weeks I am going to post a sign up thread for the demos.
