Last time I checked, Tiger was still using Dynamic Gold D-4 swing weight for all his shafts. Where did you discover this info? At his website? I'm curious...

No Tiger does have a different X-100 shaft in his driver. I have heard it called the X-100Q I think. Its 15grams or so lighter - almost like a TX-90. I am sorry I dont know more.

According to True Temper, the Crossfire is the first superlight alloy shaft designed specifically for fairway woods and hybrid clubs. Designed for a high ball flight. Now this doesn't mean that TT hasn't developed a prototype for Tiger to use in his new Nike Ignite driver. We shall see...

Here are some specs on the new Crossfire shafts:

tip dia. = .335" or .350"

weight range = 95 gm. (r-flex) to 105 gm. (x-flex)

butt dia. = .600"

bend point = low

tip stiffness for all flexes = soft

lengths = 41" (hybrid iron) or 44" (hybrid wood)

price = $13.95 each

i threw a crossfire in a driver and it works fantastically -- tt advised me not to tip it for a driver, and i didn't, and it is great -- kicks hard, bombs the ball, and has a nice heft to it.  not sure if i'll put it in my gamer instead of the fuji tr 27.3 in there now, but i'm leaning that way. . .

I have the crossfire in a Snake Eyes Quick Strike 2, so far I really like it, gets the ball up quick so it settles fast. Not sure I want my drives sitting down that fast.

FWIW - Be careful installing these things, cut it like you would a graphite shaft, not like steel, or you will mess the tip up, if you tip it.

I played yesterday in the Nationwide LaSalle Bank Open Pro Am and was paired with Jason Gore who is a Nike guy. He plays a tour Ignite with the same steel shaft Tiger uses. He did not say what the name of the shaft was, only described it as a prototype. The way he described is was "take a typical X-100 and remove a 6-8" piece of the shaft above the tip (approx. 4 inches from the tip) and replace it with a lighter weight steel" Effectively, creating all the benfits of an X-100 but a slightly lighter weight. Not sure any other details but he can definately pound it.

On another note, he had the sweetest set of "JG" stamped, custom ground raw Nike split cavities and an unmarked tour nike slingshot 2 iron that has a much narrower sole and a little thinner top line. He referred to it as "money" and hit it off a lot of tees.

That definitely helps! Thanks for shedding more light on Tiger's new shaft. I just love the way these pros tweak their gear to its maximum potential. Replacing 6-8" and replacing it with a lighter steel above the tip to make the overall weight of the shaft lighter is ingenious. Btw, What cc was Gore's Ignite? And that Nike Slingshot 2 iron is what Immelman has also been using to help post a couple great wins in 2004.
