Custom Putter Help?!?!?!?!?

Featured Replies

I currently have a Von's putter in the anser style and I am thinking of putting a homemade slit in the sole of the putter a la the ping scottsdale anser to give me some sound feedback. I was wondering if anybody has done this before and what type of powersaw and blade they would recommend using for this. thanks.

I would say do not even think about doing it yourself! a friend of mine got a newport II with a sound slot done by george palombi and its fine. www.geoputters.com is the URL

The tool you can use for this slit is "slitting or slotting saw" or

"narrow width slotting cutter". You want to use a cutting wheel diameter 1 1/2" at least and start w/ a 1/32" blade width, increase the width and closer to the face to get louder sound but I wouldn't get wider than 1/16". You don't need a good one for this one/two time/s project, It's around $25 for the tool.

If you have a sturdy Drill Press and Sliding Vise on it you can do it your self w/ a very slow rate, Pour cutting liquid slowly but generously as you slide the table. Check every now and then to make sure you got the right start and end spot.

Good luck!
