VAGolfNut2004
Recently purchased a set of Taylormade RAC CB irons. The Taylormade specs on the irons are: Dynamic Gold S300 S 0.355 127 D3 When checked the swing weights are closer to D4.5 Any suggestions on possible changes to bring the swing weight and overall weight down. The plus is I know where the clubhead is at all times, but at times the extra weight seems to really hurt swing speeds. Was thinking about X100 shafts - "softened" by micro stepping (I think it's called). But not sure how much help that will be. Any suggestions. While this is a TP set of limited edition CB irons the weights are off to much to play them at this weight. Hate to pull the original shafts but I don't know of any other way to lighten them. I have heard about putting weight plugs in the handle end to balance feel some, but I don't know much about it. Thanks
lohrm1
A couple of options...It could be that the existing shafts have weight plugs in them already but you'd have to pull a shaft to find out. You could shorten the shaft a little bit (1/2" = 3SW pts. I believe so 1/4" would probably do it.) or you could counterweight it with lead tape under the grip. PxExG
I thought I posted a reply to this but evidently not. I dont see the increase in SW affecting your SS. Its like 3 grams extra so you really cant expect a huge difference.
VAGolfNut2004
I don't think it's the swing weight either but more likely the shaft weight/swing weight combo. Just feels a lot heavier then my 300s with Flighted Rifle 6.0 ... swing weight was D3. Hell it may just be my swing isn't up to speed this year due to lack of playing and practice time. Just trying to figure out if I should make any changes or what might improve this beyond just getting stronger/in better shape. Which is probably the best idea

Did you check what is the lenght of this club? Is the swing weight scale you are using are in a good working order? Is the grip installed correctly? If everything are in a normal, TM RAC CB has a plastic weight catridges w/ various tungsten weighting in them. A lot of people reshafting this iron damage this weight catridges and screw up the swing weight to far ( to light ). In your case you can remove all the weight catridges to reduce your swing weight but you need to readjust to make them consistent again at a point that is good enough for you. JUst hope that all of them have this catridges, because if not ....you'll be having a big headache to find a spot to reduce the weight, because of the weight port in the bottom of the hosel...you don't have any room to reduce the weight by drilling the bottom of the hosel anymore. Good luck! Joe
VAGolfNut2004
I have been wondering if the scale used was accurate as I started thinking about how unlikely it is to be off by 1.5 weights. I am going to see a local club guy next week. He works with PGA and other high level players. By all accounts he is one of the best in the region and will see what he has to say. Thanks for the input.
TS202
They are garbage! You need to sell them to me very cheaply! :smile1:
