A little over a year ago I might have simply bought them. Alas, I got married! I have been relegated, it would seem, to an allowance at this point. I just spent a couple hundred on refitting my MP-14's and the Misses feels they will now have to do until the end of the season. The fact is, the more I demo the more I realize my clubs kick ***. They're ten years old, though, and I want something new and something smoking-- not nice, ok, capable, blah, blah, blah. I want a set of irons that exude quality and craftsmanship. I want a set which is better than the Mizuno MP-14's; a set I can attack pins with for another ten years, while I still can. Like I said, it's going to be the J's, the PRGR's, or the Tourstage CB's. Unless somebody can convince me otherwise. =)

Thank you! I'm down to the PRGR TM 900's and the Epon J's, I think (maybe the Tourstage X CB). There is very little commentary on the PRGR's other than the fact that most folks seem to consider them highly. The pix seem to indicate more offset than the J's, and they also look larger, overall. Am I seeing this correctly? The black J's, once again, look absolutely gorgeous.

Is the description "heavy heads" a reference to the black finish? Thanks again, dcfas

Hi folks, I was just wondering about the black J's on Ebay. They are gorgeous though I'm not sure if I would like a black finish performance wise. What I'd like to know about is the weight. The description indicates that they are "heavy heads." What is the effect of increasing this weight-- D1 to D2? Thanks, dcfas

Thanks! They seem awesome but I think I want to try something new. Is it an optical illusion or is the head on the PRGR's larger rather than smaller? http://forum.tourspecgolf.com/index.php?showtopic=22806 And the Tourstage? The pix in this forum are outstanding-- These irons are so beautiful it makes me think twice about spanking the dirt with them. I might be tempted to hang them in a case on the wall in my living room. I love the Guage Design-- and am sick they are history.

Thanks for the advice. There are others I've considered, as well, including the Miuras and Scratch golf. At a demo day recently I tried a Titleist 755 6-iron and didn't want to give it up; I had a stupid smile on my face all day. Rather unattractive, though. I've also tried the Callaway X-20 Tour and X-Forged, as well as the Ping S-58, and the Nike. The 20's were too clunky and the Forged didn't feel as sweet. Are the MP-32's and 67's blades? I'll have to try them out. One of these days I'll try the Srixon I-506's, too. They look like a possibility. Back to the high end goods: What a shame on the G-Fields-- I think they were at the top of my list.
  7. Yup-- that's what I thought.... The wife is going to be upset.

Greets, What a forum you folks have here-- and wow, awesome products in the shop. I need a recommendation based on some specifics: Forged Uncluttered aesthetics Negligible offset Thin top-line Small to medium sized head Workable yet forgiving D-2 or 3 swingweight (.5 or 1 is too light) I am a 0-5 index and have played MP-14's for the last ten years. I'd rather hit a 3-iron than a wood; it's my favorite club in the bag. My back is shot and I need something more forgiving without giving up a millimeter of performance, if that is possible. I'm 5'8", 160 lbs. My 8-iron is 61* lie, and 40* loft; I hit it 150yds with a 3/4 swing (I don't swing beyond 3/4). I enjoy both cutting and drawing the ball, but find it easier to cut. I nearly always try to shape the ball on approach, either sideways or up and down (straight makes me nervous). I have a smooth swing, reaching 110mph with driver, and 95mph with 6-iron. Very slow take away. I've speced (as well as I could): G-Field NC-1 (These folks still around?) Srixon I-505/506 Mizuno MP-60 TM R7 TP TM R7 Forged Tourstage X CB Epon J PRGR 910 Forged Fourteen TC-770 Forged Where I live the only irons above that can be held in hand are the Mizzys and the TM TP's. Any specific help in narrowing this list down would be greatly appreciated. I won't be purchasing until the end of the season, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and like to know whatb I'm getting into for the next ten years TIA dcfas
