Monster 3 woods for 2013?? So many champion drivers, what about woods?
Spoon replied to Spoon's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Feel and shape. ryoma beats egg in forgiveness and distance. -
even though i did not like the feel, thats one driver that clearly works. i thought i mis**t a couple but it was in parts of the fairway i rarely am with my gamer.. something to ponder.

yeam if i do i will specify 215grams at least. i had and gamed both. i prefer the shape of the egg and preferred the feel. the ryoma though is more forgiving and is longer and easier to launch BUT egg does all of those as well.. spin would depend on shaft. for the tee, dont even bother trying it on the egg, ryoma is better of the tee but tee it really really low though. if i had to choose i would get the egg, more solid feeling. -
stew what was that black jbeam u sent me with the crazy 7.7 shaft. was that the 435 or 425? that one i liked and was one of the longest drivers i hit and the shaft was not even fit for me.

i had the ryoma F3. My impressions are that although very very forgiving, the shape did not suit me, it was way too light and the feel felt hollow and dead. i think those with higher SS like say 105 up will feel the same way. my dad who is in the low 90s absolutely swears by it. remember chaps bombers and stronger chaps are not the intended market of the F3 IMHO. same way the hi cor ryomas are not recommended for HIGH ss players as you could potentially crack the thin crown imho. -

I had the shuttles before. one of the easiest FWs to hit. but only drawback is its soo shallow. i think its shallower than the egg and epon HT well at least to me visually. these are for slower SS players who want to elevate the ball. i liked them a lot. but am looking for something different. as for the katana, only have expeirence with their drivers -
moonballs are a function of SS. you give those pros the 435 and they would still hit it high. i guess your right, the average player could not properly elevate the 435 hence the 435 II to help them up a bit. makes perfct sense

yeah you mentioned. just want it to find the fairway. i dont pretend to be able to work the ball, im not that good. just want it straight and easy to elevate, low spin with a BB7s shaft combo. i hardly ever use my woods to attack greens, use it most of the time for placement in lieu of the driver. -

if its anything like my current gamer tp07s then i have a candidate already! wow you have so much combos! actually thinking of a TP07 16*. anyway i will give it more time who knows somethng new might come out after the japan show. anyway dibs on your kamui 14 IF and WHEN you decide to sell it. -
how about 250 shipped with everything? need to move this

hey Tae, your the only person i know who has one! if you dont like it let me know. hopefully its in your garage sale hehe. i even like the shaft. how is the kamui? reason why i did not like the ryoma is the shape was to pancake-y and the feel was somewhat hollow. i like hefty solid compact fairway woods. -
nippon BLUE modus 3 limited any info? (pic inside)

as most now offer a higher lofted 3 wood like 16* this is the way i am going to go. shafted with my default Tour ad shafts. thinking a BB7s in one of the newer heads will be one of my only additions to the 2013 bag. i dont carry any hybrids or other woods aside from the #4. after the #4w its straight to 3iron. hopefully new driving irons will come out as well so i can replace it and add a 19* driving iron ala the srix z utis -
ok guys all this talk of champion drivers and 2013 driver offerings has got me excited. left hoping and yearning though is my 3 wood spot in the bag. i have been going around in circles with my 3 wood. egg, 203, yamaha v14, RC, ryoma f3 etc etc nothing has lasted like my Yamaha inpres #4 wood! SO is there anything new and revolutionary like in driver terms 435, KPX, esque??? the jbeams and crazies dont get the same buzz in woods compared to all the raves in their drivers. i was not impressed with the ryoma f3 one bit. not expecting any quantum leaps like in the driver category but there must be something coming out in 2013? i am considering the kamui tp07 Fw but no info and no one seems to have tried it.
-
you are correct. dont underestimate the power of suggestion. stew's alter ego WETS might just keep em
-
you would have thought they improved over a previous design. so why again is the original 435 better over the 435II?
-
well i have pretty much hit most of the above with the exception of the Crazy 435 old school so cant comment on that. also havent hit any of the romaros. based on that my champion is tie between the 380 epon technicity and the Kamui TP07S. I will take the epon 380 on a track that favors carry and placement while the kamui for bombs away and open tracks. backups for me would be anythng yamaha. especially like the old non conforming models:)
-
no, not yet. i have no gap wedge at the moment and want the 51y to complete my set. have a kamui 52 incoming but still want the miura!
