701 former user and 502 current user. the 701s are longer than the specs they present. 502 are still long but roughly a half a club weaker. love the lofts of the 502 and actually use a 4iron 701 as my 4 iron in the set. love the height especially of the tee on par3s.

its the nature of the beast and its not confined to golf clubs. watches, automobiles, cellphones, laptops, gadgets etc etc. its human nature to want to upgrade. well at least for the majority of us. call us suckers of the marketing and capitalist markets. without this nature manufacturing companies would come to a halt. im not saying its an essential to upgrade but i dont mind being played by the piper. golf is a game of skill BUT i find the equipment aspect a major joy, headache and continued pursuit for finding the holy grail. its a never ending process and makes the game much more enjoyable.

damn you got a lot of gear! what else you hoarding?

oh shimada, in that case i had those very same shafts. i thought you meant some exotic crazy or quadra graphite shafts. i find that particular model to be a cross between ns950 and ns1050 but lower launching. they are very good and only reason why i pulled them is i went with the heavy stiff bandwagon. i actually may go back to them when i am better. for you though S they may be a bit light. these are what you want http://www.shimadagolf.com/product/ks_tour.html

do you have a pic of the shafts? curious as well
-
i never understood why you never liked the 302s in the beginning, frankly i like the sole on plush fairways. glad its workin out for you. dad has a set of 502/302 combos that will most likely be passed down to me once he gets the 702s. hopefully they will be released soon.

summed it up pretty well. should be a prgr egg spoon buyers guide sticky! thanks for making it easier for future egg buyers to decide including yourself:)
-
wasnt a problem for me. when i had the 502s my next club was a 50*wedge bent to 49 and a 54 and 58. i like the stronger lofts as that is what i have been using all these years. a pw 45.46 is ideal.

i have had all and game the 102 and rotate with the 151. the 151 is easier to hit and less demanding than the 102. 102 feels softer(like hitting a rubber ball) and is more workable but requires more SS to launch the ball. the 151 is pretty much a straight shooter. both are equally long but i prefer the 102 for feel and flight alone. then again you will have to select a shaft right for you and that could make or break the driver.

oh sorry about that bro thought it was the older one. i have a feeling this will be sold tom am.
-
any prgr with the word egg in it must be good!
-
yeah been wanting the newer xzooms for the longest time. they should be aplenty in your neck of the woods. if you love their woods their hybrids may be along similar lines
-
i hear its stellar and really long. dont know anyone thats tried the current version but bogeydog has the older one for sale in the FS section(that particular model) is very long forgiving. probably forged in endo as well. lets wait for t to chime in. btw why would you even interested if you already have the perfect 3w in your bag. mental gymnastics amigo?

shallow and forgiving 5 wood for senior player??
Spoon replied to Spoon's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
yeah dad is actually lurking in the proshop as i type this. hes narrowed it to the egg spoon and prgr red. havent heard much about the prgr red aside from comments of T. any more feedback about this stick? -
me and my dad gamed the anser forged for over a year. shafted with the stock ping steel shaft. big improvement in feel of their previous models. also very forgiving for a smallish head. not as soft though as other japan brands forgings but a great leap for ping. Glad they got into the forged bandwagon and look forward to some of their future offerings. Glad yours are workin out.

guys my dad is a pretty strong guy, he still has a 100mph driver ss at 64 years old. his clubs are: Driver ems 10.5 with quadra 55r, wood: epon ht machline 55sr hybrids 22/25 epon 901 hes looking for a nice 17/18 4/5 wood to fill in the gap nicely. he is considering the epon as usual but the 202 in 18* looks quite mediocre. hes also considering the egg spoon 18* but that may be the same case, underrated compared to their 15* siblings. was doing research and this one looks interesting PRGR 2010 RED 505 Fairway Wood?? basically he wants something that is long(who doesnt) also versatile to hit from the rough and he specifically wants it shallow faced. any advise guys? once again i am thinking between the 202 and the egg spoon. the prgr red looks interesting as well but im not really hot on the looks.

Never hit a driver as consistently straight and far as this
Spoon replied to Mjr. D's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
i was going to comment the same thing. the info for all its clarifty just made me a more confused golfer. i should get into the 80t bandwagon -
i know what you mean! i had a caddy that was lazy and did not tighten the belt loop on the golf cart. my entire bag fell and was dragged for about 5 yards before i realized what happened. i did not have my driver and iron covers. thank god that my umbrella took most of the force but had my soft 502s get gashed and the crown of my 151 get deeply gashed. nothing i can do about that. it totally ruined my round. nothing is more annoying than having your toys get scratched up. there are shops i know that will refinish the crown, the head i dont think so. if they are light, maybe a light buff and sanding?
-
why dont you just buy it in TSG? i think its under $500 now. you easily save $120. or you can pay for a custom upgrade but be prepared to wait. i say stick to the egg spoon. will be worth the wait. or if you know anyone in japan you can have them find you a used one, there are some around if your lucky that is. i too got mine in m40. too soft for me as well and i was prepared to suck up the loss of the shaft and invest in a better one. it all worked out though as my dad is getting a 17 with the shaft i like. and he finds the m40 perfect so a swap of shafts and everyone happy.

wow thats crazy! supo67 should be chiming in as well. that shaft-addict is hooked on the quadra and crazy! my father has taken the plunge months ago and has seen some distance gain in his irons and driver. when i get better will treat myself to a quadra! you attribute it to the shaft? the head or both?
