  1. I ended up with a X Hot with a stock Project X shaft. Had good results with it. Good of the tee. Good off the turf. Very solid feeling, almost persimmon like. Going to put the Tour AD in it. Think it is going to work out. Thanks for the suggestions.
  2. I played my first two actual golf rounds with it and it is an impressive beast. Best of the day was a 410 yard par 4. Driver, Gap wedge for me. I hit the ball poorly all weekend, but every drive I hit poorly I was shocked how far it went. Toe hits as others have said go very far. Heel hits not as far. Hit several heel shots that got out 230 plus. I was really pleased with the performance of the club. My golf performance not so much. It did lessen the pain "Wow that went really pretty far for as crappy as I hit it" seemed to help my dejected self... It really likes to go straight... I would recommend it to up to a 18hcp easy. I am done looking at drivers.
  3. I agree on several points. The driver is very forgiving and an average Joe can play it. Other than heel hits it produces long shots. I have a Ryoma and it is just as good and feels better. Yes the head cover sucks, it is garbage. It doesn't close the magnetic part doesn't work. Only negative and I really couldn't care less. Glad they spent the money on the head and shaft.
  4. How much better could it really be? The original is pretty awesome..

Wait two months for the R2 then you can get the R1 for $149. TaylorMade is a great marketing company. I liked some of their old drivers like the 510. Now that they come out with a new driver ever quarter I can't stand them.
  6. The design is the same. Improved milling, better weighting perhaps. It is not going to make more putts. It can give a more pleasing feel, plus it makes it one of a kind. In the end the performance really falls on the guy/girl wielding the handle....
  7. thanks MOB. I have heard some good things about the X Hot Pro. I may try that first before going the full JDM route. They can be had pretty cheap. I always could pull the Tour AD DI 6 SR I have in the Egg Spoon and drop it in. RBZ i ruled out and the Titleist, I don't need adjustable. The thing with the JDM clubs is you tend to get a better stock shaft. I like the cup face tech found in most JDM fairways and the X Hot has that....
  8. Thanks Stew! The egg treats me well but its been in the bag awhile and I think I want something more traditional. I am not a big worker of the ball, especially with a fairway. Easy to hit straight I like!
  9. Thanks guys, keep them coming! Local Golf Galaxy has a Titleist for $90 I can swap the shaft for another $12 so maybe that is my first option....not sure.
  10. Thanks Chris appreciate the input! I know the new egg is coming out, but I want something more traditional, but the scooped out back is useful as a water ball retriever! I tried the Ryoma but it is a bit too elongated. I want something more compact. The 910 Titleist is nice and compact, but a bit boring when you have all JDM in the bag (except wedge and Putter.) My wife took over my Gauge FW's! She plays 3W, 5W and 7W. I am killing the Romaro UT's so maybe I give their fairway a try. I kind of wish the Romaro UT came in a 15*!
  11. Currently, I have an egg spoon version 2 with the scooped out back. It works fine. Want something more traditional looking and I am seeking suggestions. In order of preference I want the 3 wood to be: (1) forgiving/easy to hit (2) easy to elevate from the fairway (3) Good from the tee, not great but good. I hit driver on most holes. Thanks TSG.
  12. You are always so helpful! Little known fact is my first JDM international sale was my Bridgestone 340 driver to you when I was in Michigan and you were in Toronto. We have come a long way!
  13. Well, i used to be around 100 but dropped to around 92 in the past year. I wasn't well health wise and lost a lot of weight (40lbs). I am healthy as a horse now (back to 183 lbs on a 6 ft frame) and the SS is coming back without question, I would guess since I haven't been on a monitor that I am back in the 100 range. I have the stock SR shaft and I would say unless you are a really aggressive swinger this shaft will work well 902to 102 SS. I have always had excellent results with the tour Ad in a SR flex. My Ryoma is a royal deco in SR flex and right now I would say the Tour AD works better for me. I am finding the left side of the fairway now with the Royal Deco if I go after it a little hard. I would say that the Tour AD is a little firmer in SR than the Royal Deco shaft. I think if you are on the low end of 90 that the Royal Deco with this head would be an OUTSTANDING combo as well. I also think that there is no coincidence that SYard picked the Tour AD SR as the standard offering as it is well matched. Again, I have to say that I had concerns about launch with this head and the shaft, I even asked Tario if it came in a higher loft, but the launch is great with the 10.5 and this shaft. All of my reservation proved to be wrong! I was also concerned about it being unforgiving. It is, in my opinion, plenty forgiving and given the size of the head very much so. I am a 10 HCP at most courses, so i don't find the center of the face as much as a lower handicap. I would not be afraid of this driver as a mid handicap player. I know Bogeydog said give it 500 balls. I hit less than 50 and the majority were very very good with this head. I only keep and put in my bag what works regardless of what it looks like. My clubs have to perform on my misses that is why my lowest iron is a 5 iron. This driver does. My titleist original VG3s do as well. The other club that has surprised me is the Romaro Utilities. They are really really good. Low single digits can play anything. The SYard will also deliver great results for a mid capper..
  14. I have similar specs went with the SR flex. Find it pretty easy to launch with the SR shaft.
  15. Not to rub it in but my SYard left Japan tuesday, arrived Thursday. I wasn't home so I had to get it today at the Post Office. Sounds like you Cally boys need to ship it to me in little ole Washington Crossing, PA. I can then forward it USPS priority and you can get it in 4 days!
  16. Well, I am a you get only one chance at a first impression kind of guy and fortunately for me and my wallet, I came away very impressed at the range. I hit a couple of turds, over swinging, sliding around, but this is a really nice driver. Some observations: I found it plenty forgiving which was a pleasant surprise. You get better results than you deserve on poor swings. It is not Ryoma D1 forgiving but it ain't bad at all. It feels good. I like the brushed matte kind of look. The Pro stopped by to see "what new toy" I had and he commented on how he liked the matte look and that it looked bigger than 388cc I had no issues elevating the club. I could launch it high or medium trajectory depending on tee height and level or upswing. 10.5 is the loft same as my Ryoma and I saw similar launch characteristics. I had some reservations about being able to launch this head, but had no issues. I No comments yet on distance as I can't tell on the range. It appears as long as anything, but I will wait for real GPS on course results. The Graphite Design shaft pairs well for the head SR flex works well for me (I probably could go stiffer) it is an easy to use shaft. Swing weight is D2 which I like. Total weight is 311 G so I am guessing the shaft is in the 60 range. I don't like the head cover. It is supposed to be magnetic I think but it really doesn't close. I wanted a back up driver that I have confidence in. It appears that I have found it. Not sure if the T388 or Ryoma will be the back up, but I have two solid performing drivers
  17. I would have bought it already had I not had a new one on the way from Japan....
  18. First let me say that once my order built by SYard, seems demand is pretty strong, which took about a week, I received it in TWO DAYS from Japan. JFK customs knows how to handle things, they might have a club ho list or something that makes it move faster. Tario and TSG were great in getting this to me fast, as always. My initial impression is that it looks larger than I thought it would. Not small at all. Paired with a familiar friend to me Graphite Design Tour AD, which one is it I am not sure but Tour AD configurations have been good to me. So very positive initial impression. I plan to take it to the range later today and will post my thoughts after the range. Not sure when it will get a course test but will share that as well. I am a 10 HCP at the moment so we will see how this works for a mid handicap.
  19. Mine arrives this week. Will see how it compares to the Ryoma D1 which is also 10.5. No problem elevating that one so we will see. Saw bogeydogs 500 ball comment. That is a years worth of drivers for me!
  20. I recognize that beautiful pink headcover in the background....
  21. The only issue I have experienced is Australia and anything 47 inches or longer, I think.
