I want to know! Who the hell said it first?
He doesn't always swing like that. It started prior to the 1998 PGA, he started doing that to hit a controlled fade, now its moved to that particular hand action whenever he wants to hit a fade. But he doesn't do it on everyswing.

FORGED - Mizuno vs. Titleist
For Mizuno Japan stuff thats usually true. Mizuno US not at all. There's all sorts of horror stories of people pulling shafts only to discover that the head wasn't the right weight and they'd poured lead on it. The US custom order department isn't the greatest in terms of getting what you want done. I've seen several that were so far off it was ridiculous. Lofts and lie angles have varied greatly from set to set depending on which ones you got. It wasn't a big issue with say the Mp-14 or MP-29 but with the MP-33 they were all over the board in my experience. Mizuno Japan on the other hand has been spot on in every situation I've been involved with, and I've only known one or two people who've had problem with them. And even then that was the person's fault not Mizuno's. They kind of forgot that the standard lie angle for Mizuno Japan used to be much flatter than the standard American lie angle, so when they ordered the clubs didn't come to the spec they wanted.

FORGED - Mizuno vs. Titleist
I've played both, lots of different variations from either, and its hard to say. With Mizuno, IMO, everything from them is pretty similar in terms of feel. The 14s feel similar to the 9s, which feel similar to the 33s, which feel are similar to the MS-5 etc. There isn't enough of a noticable difference between feel with those clubs no matter what era they were produced IMO. Titleist is different. There's a huge difference between how the older Tour Models felt vs. the 97 Custom grind. And its a jump again to the 681, another jump to the 681T, and now the 690s at least to me, feel different than the 680. Theres no consistency I guess. So while I preferred the feel of the 681T to Mizuno's stuff, I didn't like the Tour Models better. That said, I'm an oddball here, I'd dump both of them and go with something from Hogan. I've always preferred that feel over anything else.

What will Titleist do if Scotty leaves?
He may have done that on the side but he designed and produced putters for them. The Ray Cook M1-X Mallet is a Cameron design, as well as one of the milled Blue Goose models, but I forget the model name/#. Its weird, people always say he gets his know how and ideas from having worked with Tad Moore at Maxfli, but he didn't do that until after he'd left Ray Cook. And he also worked at Cleveland around the same time Ken Giannini was there(someone more in the Cameron know than me might be able to tell a story about that, I swear there is one but I can't remember it). He was briefly with Founder's Club too, though I can't remember if he ever designed anything, before going to Mizuno. And the weird part is, all of this happened within like a 2 or so year period. He was sort of all over the place.

Anyone know what shafts KJ is playing in his irons?
bout like this? :D KJ has long been an Apache/MCC user. He's had their products in his bag at least since he first won back in '02 (wasn't it '02?). As soon as I saw him in action this weekend, I could tell they were the new graphics for the MCC line, they're hard to miss with that deep shade of orange. Striking... I guess. :D Robbie TTG Thats the one. He'd used the 115 shaft before when it was all blue, but I think Apache changed colors so that it would be noticable on TV just like the rest of the "Orange Crush" line. Its a good marketing idea. You rarely heard of them when they had the Dominion 75 and Micro58, and everything was all different colors. Now with the uniform names and the bright colors they get noticed more.

What will Titleist do if Scotty leaves?
I think he owns the name, not Titleist. Scotty isn't his real name, its Donald or something like that but he has trademarked the Scotty Cameron name supposedly. When Cameron left Mizuno after making the "Reason" series of putters, Mizuno could no longer use the Cameron name. But they continued to produce putters that were almost exactly the same, still called the them "The Reason" and changed model designations from the regular M-100 etc to MC-100(or something like that).

What will Titleist do if Scotty leaves?
The rumor's been around for years, about once a year it pops on on various golf sites. Last year it was BSG, year before that GO, year before that GEA, and every year somebody tries to start it in the Scotty Cameron Fan Club. But its never been anything but unconfirmed specualition. It was strongest when his contract was up, but its died down since then.

What will Titleist do if Scotty leaves?
These rumor's have been around for years, since Nike decided to start making clubs. First it was Tad Moore, he was going to leave Dunlop/Maxfli and go to Nike. He even designed some protos that didn't go well, but he never signed. Then it was Kirk Curre, he was going to come over, supposedly there were protos made, but there was never any proof to that. Then it was Bettinardi, but he signed with Hogan. Then it was Kevin Burns, but he signed with Tourstage. And Scotty has been in and out of rumors the entire time, simply because of Tiger and at earlier points Duval. He's not going anywhere for a long time. And even if he wanted to there's no way Titleist would let him. After losing Duval and Woods to Nike you can bet Titleist would have full use of the Fortune Brands legal funds to stop it.

I swear in at least one close up you could read the 115 on the shaft. Maybe even on his eagle shot.

Ignacio Garrido's putter
Guerin Rife 2-Bar, he's been using it for awhile, at least since some point last year. But they(GR) have not said anything about releasing it.

Is there a "8802" GD?
I can honestly say thats the first Gauge that i've ever really loved. Reminds me of an old Armour Ironmaster, but with a bit bigger blade size.

what do you guys know about Kenneth Harper handmade putters?
I've seen that putter before. But thats it. Never heard of who made it, never heard it was an American, never knew he made anything else. Only thing I've ever heard about it was that the Jumbo putter was made quite awhile ago, and was very rare because the guy who made it no longer was doing anything anymore. Thing is there's so many different little companies out there making putters, yet there's so few that get any notice at all, especially really small ones that don't get a whole lot distribution or cult following right away.

R7... could this spell the end of the Tour Issue...
I doubt it will have any effect but I'm one of the people who thinks this thing won't do well. There've been other companies that have tried this replacement weight system and it hasn't worked. In fact most people don't even care about this type of weighting system. I honestly can't think of one company that has been successful with interchangeable weights in their clubs, people just don't like them for whatever reason. If the general public doesn't like them, then TM will shut these down pretty quick and come up with a new model for the tour. So IMO the tour issue driver will last quite awhile. Plus, you have to remember, that TM floods the market with drivers for their pros. If 10 people don't like it they'll come up with a prototype for them and that will be the hot new thing.

Tourspecgolf R700 thread! ** PICS**
It doesn't look good to me, and personally I don't see this going well for TM. Generally clubs that are adjustable cause all sorts of problems, people strip the screwhead, they can't them back in right, they take them out and then lose them, they somehow manage to break the head trying to put the screw back in. Throw in the fact that someone's going to break the rules and try to adjust them on the course...not good. Whats so wrong with just using lead tape.

TM R360 Tour, anyone heard of it?
Its Hi-Cor, but not illegal. Hows that for an explanation. Because it never made it to release, it was a Japan only proto, and so few were made it was never tested. And since it was a proto and not marketed as being high cor it doesn't fit the way of being declared illegal without being tested. Its okay for tournaments, one of the members of the USGA executive committee is a member at the club I used to work at. He plays one and has given lectures to us during tournaments about how its not illegal. Technicality sure, but technically legal.

Tried VJs glove under the pit drill
Its a good drill, I'd just be careful with it. There was a story in Golf World awhile back about how both Vijay and Jesper Parnevik got injured ribs doing the drill. I've seen it happen with others too. You really don't want to go at it fullspeed, and some pros will even recommend not hitting a ball at first when you do it. You just want to ingrain the feeling and then try it with a ball later once you're more used to the motion. When done correctly it can be a good drill, though you don't necessarily have to use a glove. Using a headcover or doing what Vijay does and getting a small Nerf ball will work just as well.
