  1. Ya beat me to it! Great looking putter, I really like the heavier looking toe. Any center shaft?
  2. Im going to have it refinished then I will post some pics.
  3. Hmmmmm.... that is definetly a possibility. I am just not sure I really want to take the time to work on it. It is a very nice putter has a very nice solid feel. IMO really the perfect anser style shape. I will agree it does need some extra weight. I prefer my putter heads around 375g minimum.
  4. I just picked up a nice black head Gauge Japan Tour Zero. Anyone know if this thing is carbon steel or stainless?
  5. The Stock Diamana Stiff is about a 1/2 flex stiffer than the Axiv according to the frequency. I tipped my 6564 1/2" and it still isnt close to 258 cpm on the machine. IMO it plays like a nice standard stiff in actual playability closer to the standard SQ stiff than the frequency suggests.
  6. Id really like to try that 7568 in my 3 wood. I wonder if it would be too stiff? (Driver is 6564M tipped .5") Also would I get the M or H?
  7. I actually find the SQ to be incredibly ugly but you cant argue with results. I flat out hit the thing longer and straighter than any other driver. In fact I think it has helped that it is so ugly now I just concentrate on the ball and making a good swing and I try not to look at the driver. Before when I was playing all those georgous TourStage drivers etc I used to love to look at the club at address and how perfectly pear shaped and beautiful it looks sitting behind the ball, then think about how pure and almost persimmon like pure impact was going to be and I think that may have thrown me off. LOL Still loveing the Axiv by the way I find no faults with it at all I really cant wait untill it gets a little warmer and the ground firms up so I can see how far I am really hitting it. I was planning on keeping the 671TE untill I get TrackMan but honestly I hit the Axiv one that much better I dont think there is a point. I may replace the 671TE shafted one with a 6564H and see how that compares to the 6564M. (Cant change the stock shafted one thats the "control" on the experiment lol)
  8. I got 3 identical SQ drivers and set them up with these 3 shfts, the stock Diamana SQ, Axiv 6564M and Fuji 671TE. So far the Axiv shafted one is winning, it is the one that is in my bag. I have to say that I REALLY like this shaft. I launch it a little higher than the other 2 but the ballflight is flat and carries. I am not sure if I really hit it any further than the other 2 it is hard to say right now the ground is pretty wet and there is no roll. I seem to maybe carry it a bit further consistantly than the other 2 for sure but I am not sure on overall distance. At the end of the month when we get our TrackMan doppler launch monitor system I will be able to see for sure. Aside from performance I love the way the Axiv feels. It is very active and smooth and has a very pronounced kick. Accuracy is also very good although I hit all 3 of them pretty well (yeah SQ!) this one seems to be the most consistant ballflight. I can definetly turn it over or hit a small cut if I need to. I am very excited to hit this combo on TrackMan and see where I am with it. The only change I could possibly see is maybe to try the 6564H if the ballflight is a tad too high. The Fuji 671TE is an excellent shaft also. I will be keeping this combo untill I get TrackMan also just to see the numbers. Feel is also very good but more smooth and less active than the Axiv. Ballflight is a little lower and still nice and flat. I seem to carry the Axiv a little further maybe but again roll might make up for that. I had a harder time turning the ball over with this shaft consistantly fades were no problem. All in all an excellent shaft my favorite lighter weight Fuji that I have tried. Again I must mention that the stock shaft that comes in this driver is very good. My only complaint is that it doesnt keep up with the other 2 in feel it is kinda harsh not nearly as nice. Performance is there though although I would rate this one as my least favorite it was alot closer than I thought it would be. I will report back again in a month or 2 when the ground dries out and I have some time on the TrackMan.
  9. You can definetly negativly effect the way a club plays by doing too much grinding. However making small grind changes to the sole and toe will not negativly effect playability at all. We have done a ton of testing on this, ground clubs with different sole grinds and toe shapes and the COG pretty much stays in the same exact place. Grinding the sole a little flatter or rounder or killing the leading edge does not take off much weight at all. Same with making the toe a little more round or square. Were talking a couple grams here and a couple grams there. (My specific KLE grind that I play takes an additional 2.5 grams off the sole and when tested the COG stays in the exact same place) You can even round off the edges of the topline to make it appear thinner of flatten it out to make it appear thicker and you will not change anything. The other key is taking weight off opposite areas if the grind is more extreme. This will also keep the COG in the same place. OEMs design the sole grind to fit the max amount of people that they can. They design the toe shape to try to appeal to as many people as they can visually. They are designing a set of clubs for a mass of people not for one individual. While some of us can use the standard grind with no problems there are many that will greatly benefit from some slight changes to the sole that fit along with their swing. There is no question that a set that is designed for you with a grind that fits your swing will outperform an off the rack set of clubs that is designed for the masses every time. A good example on the weighting issue, you send a set of clubs in to be blueprinted. You get D4 swingweights. Your clubmaker has to add 6 grams of lead to the hosel to get the swingweight to D4 from D1. This will do more to shift the COG than just about any small custom grind and just about anyone you ask will tell you that you can add about 8-10 grams of lead in the hosel before you really start to have any effect on playability at all. And weather you know it or not most people out there are playing with irons that have lead in the hosel.

  11. All of our club heads come from Ishihara. Our AR1 CBs are pretty much the same as those 2030s in the pics with a few small modifications that improve playability a little bit. We offer them with your choice of grind, specs and finish for $1250.

  15. Chris, You are definetly right the face of a club is not 100% flat unless it is milled flat or machine ground flat. (again were splitting hairs here from a performance standpoint) We do mill the faces of some of our wedges if that is what the customer wants. We also mill the grooves if that is something the customer wants. As for the GAS1 finish, I am just relaying what my plater told me. I will mention the titanium mesh tape to him next time I talk to him I am sure that would work anything that doesnt conduct the electricity of the plating will work. Out of curiosity and so I can inform my plater how does the electrical tape dull the grooves?
  16. It would be next to impossible to do this aftermarket and make it look right without regrinding the whole head. When we mill the face of a head we have to start with a completely raw head. When the face is milled you are taking away metal and effectivly lowering the surface of the face which leaves you with a distinct ledge at the edge of the face where the rest of the head is now above this lowered milled face area. When we do this we then have to grind the rest of the head down to the same level so that the face is flush with the rest of the head. This take alot of weight off and if you did all of this to a retail head aftermarket you would be left with a head that is useless from a weighting standpoint. You also really need to redo the grooves when you mill the head as you are making the grooves that much more shallow as you take away metal from the face. IMO the actual milling of the face doesnt do too much by itself, it adds a small measure of spin when brand new because the face is a little rougher but that wears out real fast. The main advantage of milling the face is that the face is now 100% flat. IMO the biggest performance difference from milling comes from milling the grooves which can give you alot more spin. As for the Gauge GAS1 finish with the Satin body and raw face, I have actually talked to my plater about this at length and it is definetly not that hard to do. Basically what you have to do is tape up the face (the area you dont want plated) with electrical tape. The electrical tape does not conduct the electricity that is used for the plating so therefor the plating goes everywhere else on the head that doesnt have the tape. The problem with this is that again you are left with a face that isnt flush (although MUCH MUCH closer than the milled aftermarket face) Anytime you do a plated finish like that you are adding metal. In this case most likely a layer of nickel and then a thin layer of chrome. Since you are not plating the face again the area around the face will be slightly higher than the face. Take a GAS1 head and run your finger along the edge of the face. You can feel where the plating ends and the raw begins and how the plating is a little higher. Of course you shouldnt be hitting the ball that far out on the toe anyways but it is not flat none the less. This could be done by a refinisher without too much problem as long as they are ok with the fact that the face wont be flat. Do you know what kind of black finish they use on the face? Is that a teflon finish, a black oxide or something different?
