Head only?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this. Given that Japan is the home of the gadget, is anybody using one of the new breed of GSA (golf swing analysers)? At best they look like a poor man's trackman and at worst they look like a another pointless training aid. Anybody using/used one? Has anybody been able to compareaccuracy to a trackman/flightscope?

I would definitely stick with the 502s. Sounds like you need to get a fitting and make the changes. Haven't played 551s but not sure there is much difference from 501s apart for the finish (which does look nice). 501/551 will have a different feel compared to 502s a bit more or a clicky feel. Forgiveness wise there isn't really in it.

I might be interested in the head, what is the cost breakdown?

Rather like the look of the driver (is that the 101 or 102?). Big fan of the 701, but really don't like the paint fill on the 751s. Out of interest how are the 551s selling?

How would you compare the R11s spin-wise with the 152 and V spec?

Thanks all. I guess this all confirms one of my fears. Jdm does seem to be more aimed at niches than usdm clubs. I think this is where some of the performance increase comes from you just need to find the club combo for your niche. It sounds like I may need to take an informed guess (epon 102/151/152 ryoma v spec ) and hope for the best. Guess I can always resell ;-)

I am slowly moving to a JDM bag (speed due to the cost :^( ). I am now on my second set of Epons and have a couple of lovely fourteen wedges. The next club in line is the big dog. Because of the cost, used is likely to be my best bet (prob BST) and I'm mostly looking at the Ryoma and Epon models. I am currently using a 9* R11s with a Fubuki Alpha 70S, have a swing speed of ~105mph with an ave distance of 260yrds (in UK conditions). I prefer the feel and sound of the Titleist models, but thought that the R11s was a bit more forgiving.... What should I expect of a JDM driver compared to the USDM stuff I'm used to? Straighter, longer, lower launching or is it sound and feel based? Would I expect to go for a similar loft in a JDM head (assuming the same shaft)? Thanks in advance

Just looking at the 551s in the proshop. There doesn't seem to be much of a price difference between the RF and AF ranges? I thought they were orginally positioned as a more accessible set of Epons? Just wondering where they now sit in the Epon range?

Looking for some help to find some alternative shafts to the 'standard' offerings I've been using to date. When fitted (mizuno national fitting centre & local fitter) they have both come back with the same two shafts (TT DGSL S300 & PX 5.5). I am currently playing the TT DGSL S300s as I just didn't get on with the feel of the PXs. What else is around that I should have a look at that would have a similar profile to my current shafts?

Ultimately the price point will be determind by the way that epon intend to market them. If they are going to put them into 'normal' golf shops then they will need to be comparable with the USDM clubs (Titleist AP2s etc). However if they are just going to put them through the exisitng Epon dealer network then maybe 15-25% less that the AF range. I'm still not convinced about how many people will get to see these unless they already know about JDM and Epon. Maybe they will steal sales from other JDM brands or maybe even people considering the AF range? Have to say the in hand pictures do make them look alot nicer than the stock pictures.

All, The RF-551 thread and the impending new AF models got me thinking and I'd welcome your thoughts. Are the AF-*02 irons any better than the AF-*01 irons? Given the strength of the older Epon designs (as shown by the RF-551) how much of an improvement can the latest deigns be? Personally I game the 701s and have also owned the 501s (wish I'd kept them now). I've not mention the 301/302 irons as they are too much for my feeble game!!!!

Of the 3 the fubuki is the lowest launching, think ahina equivalent. It is a pretty stout shaft. The Kali is super smooth and Imho feels softer than it actually is. It has a fairly low flight. The other shaft should be the highest launching of the 3 but I've not hit it myself. Based on your ss try the Kali s or x or the alpha s
