  1. Before my last game of golf in japan this year on sunday gone. i was rumbling around my clubs sat night and for a change i decided to bring the"oldies" out for a run instead of my "ball mash machine " pr-gr eggs, just to see how they fair after not using them for a few months and how much technology had progressed. I decided on my old all ltime favourites, the Royal collection bbd type h 2 15* + 17* coupled with diamana blue 73 s in the 17* and X in the 15*. initially after not hinning these off the deck in a long time i was perfified to hit them offf the short stuff. they looked big! and comapred to the eggs they look like tiny shoe boxes on a string. obviously there anrt the are actually small but the sleekness of prgr is daunting. At this course i have to hit a ton of 3woods, my driver runs out thru the fairway into utterly impossible psoitions a lot if ur not dead centre so the 3 wood is a perfect foil. i hit 7 , 3 woods of the tees. same pretty most of the time , hence my massive deisre to find nirvana in FWS this yr. Im here to say, these "old things " played absolutly sensationally. i know why Tiger uses the blue board in his fw now ,the shot is pure its the gold standard of shafts in my book, it hasnt gt the best feel or the longest but its just so reliable. perfect flight kinda mid ish bit of carry bit of rollout. So as a comparrison n betwixt my armoury of woods how did they go? bloody well! ill use the eggs as a comparison , bec that what ive gravitated to this season. the Roycolls arnt as long off the tee but not a much as id thought. the ball flight is lower for sure the run out prob similar. i def swing slower and my tempo is better with the roy colls. and i hit the ball better than the eggs form a tee box. i feel supremly confident of putting it pretty close to where i want . def more so than the eggs. the roy colls have a small compact head. but a lovely sharp base edge that just say hit me where ever u like with any kind of shape. of the tee these are great .however...................., Off the deck the new technology comes into its own. the sleekness of the eggs on the short stuff. makes the ball look so easy to hit off the fairway so much better visually than traditional head (imo of course!) and id guestimate the eggs are like 20ish yards longer of the fairway than the roy colls. somwhere like that. i left the course after playing pretty well and hitting the fairway woods beautifully . wondeing what fate awaits these fantastic clubs. the feel of them is so good. the set up is so good, my confidence with them is soo good. they aint going anywhere.! IF i need to play a fw off the fairway 600+ to par 5s then the egss get the nod 100% of the time , but if my day requires a little more plotting, and moving the ball a bit the more traditional heads get bagged. the technology has made the new ones a lot longer no denying this. they are light and u can swing a little faster, get a higher shot and get near that long green more often but , if u need to think a little more than bang massive bombs, then the traditional heads are still right at the very top. ive basteredised my eggs so much this yr putting all and sundry in them , eventually going for heavy, low spin, low launch shafts into a club that was designed to fligh high , it took a long time to get that feeling i wanted and i think prob Gocchin or perhaps I-drive first go it right all that time ago with the old eggs and the crazy 80 fw. easily the BEST fw wood shaft bar NONE. uttelry amazing if u turn it over all the time results are stunning. If one requires a cheaper safe shaft then the diamana blue really hasnt lost anything over time. . simplicity at its most glaring. just not a long. both sets of these woods will be staying with me for the foreseeable future. oh and ive still got yamaha V 14.5- quadra fw . to consider... nice thoughts to consider each week .

gents....., can anyone tell me what to do with my raw headed irons that have accumulatd an inordinate amount of rust from being left in a a damp concrete environ for 10 months. they were in greta cond. hardly used really but in the interim they have rusted all over the face, i hear "coke" does something . i presume the rust will clog up the grooves. or is this prefectly ok, they look terrible! i have some sword oil is it just a matter of oiling these puppies and so be it or is there more important work needed?
  7. prob more muted now u ask......., its not dissimilar to the yonex nextage sound ( that small head rounded crown .,) and more like a pistol shot under a blanket than a whip crack. its a good sound ,ahhhhh yes. very much very very very muh the same as the epon 102 . its about a far away form that nike square tissue box thing as a driver can get. thankfully.

$40 ??????? thats a barrrrrrrrrrgain, straight to he pool room ........!
  10. im sure it was more the shaft than the over all combo , i reshafted it with a quadra fire 75 xs which is my stock in everything shaft i know that inside out , love it. and im using it this weekend to see what the diff is. i love the shape of the new one, it looks tighter all round better package than the older ones. (looks wsie) the shots i did hit well were very good, they motored out there , after reading about the ahina its not the shaft for me . im sure the quadra will make this work better for me . def getting used to it but i think you know staright away if a shaft fells properly suited to your game. i knew immediatly tha ahina i was going staruggle with for ever. other guys abaoslutely love it just not I.
  11. I was looking at a set of new wedges for tigher cropped fairways to what i have now, i need something a little thinner and sharper for the summer golf down under i have the yururi tour , and kenmochi already in oz for this kind of play , and they work a treat. but these caught my eye and i had to try them properly shafted ( ns pro 1050x alway s for me in wedges) they look more razor like than anything else . they are totally differnt to his other models, the other ones i have for miura ara lot fuller and thicker the WMF 03 are the ones with the bulbous looking sole . but wow they are super for getting under the ball . and stopping on a dime. i took these new wedges out on blue grass and rye grass fairways very tightly cropped and magnificent to hit off. these performed superbly You can open them up to all sorts of angles. can flop off the toe as crisply as anything ive ever hit the spin genertaed was excellent.without being madness. others i found spin more. but the confidence i had to hit it close and stop the ball was very high . needed them lot yesterday.for all sorts of lies and im really impressed by them bunker shots were sensational ,prob the best out of bunkers ive used. and for toe shots thers nothing better ive hit. these will be in my bag along with the yururi tours for long time id think. the look of them in piccys belies thier look at address. that bulb somwhow......, makes the club get under the ball better than alomst everything. could do a lot worse than bag a set of these puppies for places that dont see a lot of water . thats for sure. anyone else have them agree / or disagree ??
  12. T i am lucky chap. But i do do the volume that gets me in first. ThatS what i do. I love to hit everyrhing ther is. I have no bias so evergthbg gefs an honest apraisal. I just happen To love yamaha
  13. i just took the shaft out and repalced it with a quadra fire 75xs, pretty sure that will straighten it out a bit , seriously i couldnt contol it. spoke to my clubbuilder and he says the ahina is a right side biased shaft , which prob, epxlains why i hit it so far right last night.
  14. Got my hands on this yesteday. its a lot smaller looking in the face then its predeccesor and a lot more pear shaped. i hit the 2010 and 2011 side by side last night. and theres a definite difference. the new model is more difficult to hit and its longer and lower the ahina shaft keeps the ball really low and plenty of run will be achievable with this for sure. i found it hard to turn over compared to what else i was hititng. but on the good shots i was really impressed, the feel is even more full and solid than last yrs its a more rounded compact shape than previous and you can most definitly feel the solidness of a good shot. unfortunatly bad shots = dead man walking o/b slicematron! i hit hthe biggest slice thats ever been hit , eve, r last night. i just had to laugh it almost made a circle. anyone that struggels heel/toe misses. mighten like this i was .... gulp. struggling with it., a lot. im not sure after what else i was hiitnng last night if this set up is for me, the qaudra in it might be a lot more my style. tho the ahina is a tough shaft for me , but its a really good felling shaft, i think better than the fubuki and the kaili ( i have a slice biased swing) so anything with keep the hook away isnt my idea of a good day usually .i hit so many balls i was always going to struggel with swing fitness and tiredness. the overall feel is, as always with yamaha uttelry sensational. the god shots were low running monsters under the wind significanlty lower shots than all the other drivers in my posse last night . i really have to work hard on this to get it right i think and its a fantastic looking head the new design is a real winner and i liked the more pronounced pear then last yrs, which seems a litle square or boxish in comparison. the face being so small on the new one is scary tho. most def not for the faint hearted . or slow swingers this needs to be hit hard. im keen on trying the 455 cc , i cant wait to hit now, i think if its the same shape as this this will be a super driver. has anyone hit the 455 power one yet? dying to see how that goes.
  15. hi sean i got a unused onestock one think its a 60 s equivalent il l check tonight if u like.

Oh dear,at the range now, its awsome!!!!! Orderimg one tom. T have a look sir its terrific, bit more of an update after the session. took these drivers to the range last night. 2011 yamaha 9* tour diamana ahina 70s 2010 yamaha tour 10*- stinger 70x 2010 yamaha 9* tour tp7hd epon 101 quadra 75 xs 2010 tour stage 703 quadra 75s p-tune 9* stinger 60s 2011 ryoma d1 9.5 *- stinger 60s. hit a heap of balls like 220 ish, and a lot of drives in perfect conditions. and was hitting the ball really well. the ryoma was in some pretty darn good company here and although the balls final position lt couldnt be y assertained as the net only goes to 250 yards none the less where the ball hits on the net one can seee easily how it goes. the Ryoma was LONG..........., Miss**ts there was a distinct lack of ballooning and distance loss wasnt that bad ,toed quite a few and still got some really good results. it played at 46 inch bec my clubbuilder is over 60yrs old and the shaft , although wasnt 100% perfect spec wise its not totally unsuited i have another one and its just a little light thats all. , the face at address LOOKS is a litte closed i dont think it is , ill have to check that today, but it seemed to be compared to the others . my miss hits were pretty much all hooks which was totally opposite to the 2011 yamaha tour ahina set up which were all powder puff fades. , so this indicates it may be a tad closed o maybe square and the others are open , ill find out about specs today and options for customs. the shots i did hit were medium trajectory very straight for the main and looks like they got a ton of run out . the first 4 shots i middled 100% and nearly died, i havne felt anything like this that big bulbous power tail i could almost feel pushing the ball forward. stil ldont know if its legal( im presuing it is .) but i was stoked. then i got into my othe drivers , my thought at the end of the night is this belongs right in this elite company absoltley no doubt about it. ONLY thing i didnt like about it was hte face angles look at address looking closed. but the reuslts speak for them selves. its very very very good driver. my builder was gracious enough to lend me this which is worth yen 170, 000 in this set up. was it worth that??????????? compared to others ????? hmmmmmmmmmmmm., well i dont mind spending a bit of coin on a driver as u might be aware , but even i had to balk at this price it puts it in the most exxxy drivers on the market , with any set up i can think of. thats up to the individual to decied what something is worth. would i buy this for that price in my exact specs ......... ? above what else i have., dunno yet. im pondering it. i do know i have a crazy 80 that will look pretty incredible in this head tho...................................!,

hmmmm got a peek at it today very very very nice looking stick .looks very well made lovely lines simple nothing flashy about it except for the gold emblem on the power tail. i had a small hit with it felt very good lots of thump at impact , not a super paper thin face. has some substance to it all in all looks a very good piece of engineering. small face pear shaped, very reminiscent at adress of the TM tp superquad form 08 looks like it got a small pronounced rounded convex face. need to take it out for a good session , but first impresions are very good. this wont be out till 2011 sometime. first impressions .....tasty. (sorry for poor piccys but only got hte phone to do it!)

its gotta be the same head right. these are identical to my zones , which i think are the same as the geotechs. and i love my zones but the price is wrong unless they have done sonething "super" to them.
  19. IMO the V2 has very little feel to it , its really tight, and the results are superb, but its just a dull feeling shaft . the matrix feels like an electric eel compaed to it and the x-con 6 is good but IMO just above average . the diamana ahina brand new might be a good updated one to try? fubuki aplha as well thats the clsoeset i can think of thats really stiff and tingy or in matrix the f6m2 would be better. ahhhhhhh fujikura rombax. yes i think they are pretty close to what ud like to hit , but with more feel. what say u all sound about right????
  20. which of the 2 matrix would suit a 3 wood? the 8m2 iguess ?"

question for gochhin or chris i think. i just saw a set of these 3-pw for sale for mucho dolero. plus a set of wedges 47-52--57 that look like they can shred a bowling bowl. at address they look really really good. feel and weight was perfect. they look very similar to my zone sprouts or a set of geotechs. but the inset face is different have u any clues about them they a had a set of x-100s in them so im thinking they might have been a pros. they are in good nick but they have seen the course for sure. grooves perfect. ive never seen these before and i was really interested, they look fantastic, cavity muscle style. told the guy to hang on to them for me till i got some info. this is the puppy. it really looks tops!.

Yup, bagging the my new model today, im en route to useit now. Its got a spot in the line up for as long as i can forsee. Off the turf nothing even close to it. From a tee box the low profile still erks me a bit ,the old model looks loads better bec its a bit fuller. Distance is second to None on bothmodels, And the choice of shaft like anything makes the club . Skipper hope ur right gone the 7.4 fw80 in the 15" crazy over the fubuki. Report later today. Ihad troubles with the look of the new one on a tee so iwent for the yamaha v quadra14" if i was planning to hit a lot of tes or the egg if i was going to hit long balls at par 5s like today i cant best those two clubs for diferent shots. Get both!!!!!!!
  25. hahahaaaahah nope maried. 2 kids. missus just looks at my club room in utter dismay. i got no where to hide it , i just shake my head sometimes and think what the hell am i doing! i love it tho great hobby,
