this season ive gamed the 13-15-17-18-22 in the eggs . the old 13 is for low shots form a tee, very hard to hit well or consistantly off the deck.the ball runs a mile and its hard to get it above head high. fantastic for windy or tight courses where u dont want ballooning its shafted with a fubuki 75 s fw rediculously stout! the new 15 can be used from anywhere u want it, tee the deck, it doesnt matter its that good. its a long 3 wood thats more moveable than the old one. and lot more versatile, ive had this with a quadra fire express and fubuki 6s s fw , the old 15 i repalced with the new one , the old one i think is longer but he new one is more workable thats why i changed, is you like straight shots with a 3 wood then the 15 old model is superb, it runs a mile and all par5 s are fair game with this, i shafted this with a quadra , its crazy long ! the new 17 is the most versatile of the lot ,i just used it straight of the deck no problems at all, length is about as long as the 15 , just a slightly higher trajectory and its a safer club. i had this with an ozik f6m2 and a ozik hd6 both utterly superb shafts for this head, the ozik range and egg seem very good indeed. the old 18 i use for getting me up near the base of a par 5 when i cant or dont want to go at the green directly ,or off the tee occasionaly on short par 4s where i absolutely need to be on /next to the fairway . the shaft in mine means this thing doesnt move left or right , its just point shoot and(usually) smile . i have the diamana stinger x in it . the 22 is my quasy hybrid its def. longer than a hybrid and dead straight , the NS 1050 x steel shaft was a great idea. took some distance form it and made it super straight, i love this club. i always bag the 18 and rotate the 22 with the egg 4 iron i converted or the epon 901 if the course is shorter, the 13 is probably heading back to oz for the links couses . the 15 new one i use on open courses where i can have huge crack at par 5s. the 17 * I i NEEDED A HEAVIER SHAFT ! probably going to get that back and load some heavy artillery on it get that swing weight to d4 ish . basically off the deck theres nothing better to hit than the eggs i think.they just work.

Golf around tokyo in winter is perfectly fine apart from a cpl of days. Its super chilly and usually no wind to speak of and dry super dry. The ground isnt the nicest to hit from but compared to high summer Its actually really nice to play in. Have to keep the mittens on between shots most of the time bec. Hands freeze easily. Temps are about 2- 6c so its ok the mountin courses are all closed for snow but ifu go south its tropical , so no probs we play all yr and threres No drop off in traffic. the course gets really parched brown but the chemicals these guys use keeps the fairways green the greens are lightning! I love winter golf

hes going to go for an extra pw and bend it to 48 and play 45-48-52-56 and drop the 60. which is the least fav. and most inconsistant of the possy. makes sense i suppose.
-
Just saw a set of these , wow they look sensational. i have no diea about mizuno gear but seriosuly the shape of these suite my eye as good as anything ever. whats the skinny on these , quality wise, playability are they in the top echelon?
-
My buddy has a set of EPON 502s, and the loft on these are really strong the pw is 45* he thinks now hes a wedge out, his wedges are 52-56-60 and he thinks from 45- 52 is too much, his old PW is 48* and thats his 115 yard club which is now gone . has anyone else come upon this issue and what resolution did u come to? , he doenst want to bend the clubs beceause they were made to those specs for a reason. and cant drop a wood for an extra wedge. i told him thats what hell most likely have to do. but it is a pretty big jump at that end of the bag to be 7* out at the business end. any suggestions?

not played it but tried it at range, the driver with the ahina. i thought it was pretty nice. pretty forgiving, they are very expensive, played by a lot of older japanese golfers.., shachos seem to love it. i thought it wasnt overly long but kinda like the xxio driver (??), light and swings easy, wasnt for me, but they sell a few of them to the older set. , they are not in stores, they are more like an order club i think.., i havnt seen any around in shops.

THIS is a bold statement, but i think i might have found my putters for the looong foreseeable future.the never ending rotation of putters might be nearing its end. the different tack ive gone in recent times using big bladed faced putters, the scotty detour, the guage design aluminum.., scotty futura. old golden bear aluminium, (with some good results.) has changed irrevocably from last saturday. That axis eagle 1 that is advertised on the home of wrx . has been my gamer and its s been fantastic, first day of use , i hit one eagle , and 2 birds, all solid putts to make them on slowish greens ,was the best putter that suited me ive hit in years. ive been gaming that for several weeks without anything near taking its place......... till now.........., i was browing the putter section and i noticed behind the cavalcade of used scottys, a reqasonably newish copper faced putter, curiosity called and i picked it up " hello there what do we have here." . the matsumoto mz-07, in perfect condition. ive had a cpl of his older ones before and wasnt really hooked, so i played a bit with it , said what the hell its abslutely beautifull anyway ill take it. played it sat and made 3 birds in a drunk -a- thon friednly compey and then said HELLO, this is staying.............! ive used a cpl of japanese putters before the Yamada milled springs to mind but couldnt get them wired, loved the look and feel, but on the course they didnt do it, this is the complete opposite. its smaller bit more flat lie, and the feel, kinda lightish, didnt like the feel, but the look got me ,on the course though without a shadow of a doubt , the crispest feeling putter ive hit, ( HANG ON, I KNOW i havnt tried that golds yet! ) but ..........,seriously this thing is absolutely superb ,the greens wre running about 11, they were slick and in superb condition as good as greens come really and i was knocking them stiff all day, the only thing was the grip was in taters so it down at nakajima sans now getting the brand new iomic putter grip on it . im a changed man, im not prepared to sell the axis, thats still got the bag position on slower greens but on fast slick this was utterly fantastic. well worth looking at folks well worth it! ill pop up some photos tom.

Driver shaft for epon 102 driver? Ive narrowed down to three choices
supo replied to pmr's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
not bad. gets the ball out there. very stiff, they are pretty straight shooters ive used the 70x in a driver, which is really really stout, too much for me. the 75fw s isnt a bad fairway wood shaft tho. but i just fine them to have not a lot of feel , which i l really like in a shaft , found them very hard to trun over. -
Driver shaft for epon 102 driver? Ive narrowed down to three choices

ooooooooh if u can get one of those ur a lucky fella. get it. especially if u have the epon 102 head. thats one mean assss propulsion device u got there. theres NO stinges left. yes the proto is the kahuna. the 8.5 and this are absolutely perfect. they balance each other like nothing else. mine plays short to 44.5 inch and i can snap it if i really try. but i hardly ever do i have to grip really low to do that, the cpm is at 288 and the torque is 2.4 somehting crazy ............., cop that! BUT it doesn feel like it is .., thast its beauty . i had a 70x sitting around unused till i got my new head on friday the yamaha v201 TOUR MODEL 425cc and immediatly took the DI6S out and re shafted it with this 70x best decision ever. my first foray with it on sat was a beautiful result. plays too long for my liking 45.25 but i gripped down with great success. the heads small. a lot smaller than the 460 cc. stock one which i absolutely adore. the face is the biggest whoooooooooooooooooa there. wow this is small. i was gulping on the first tee shot. theres not a lot of it, but wholly shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhesh, when i got a few out of the centre and it was just laughable mosnter drives, but everything is monster off the centre. right? the rating i go by ,and swear by on drivers IMO is not how good they are BUT how bad the the miss- hits are . and with this set up, i didnt get killed at all and i was toeing it all day , just hard to get used to the small face on this ,and i stayed alive pretty much every drive, was hitting into some wind most of the day as well. nothing else ive ever hit has the straightness and non blow out ness of the stinger shaft. if you can get one then GET IT!( but get a quadra as well seriously, they are just the nuts. ) i think the quadra and the crazy feel better, more alive, something in them just sings ,but the stinger is the straightest, when i go to a tight course the epon stinger combo is the one i take , when i play on open wide plains its the qauadra yamaha combo. the crazy is too right ish for me im crying about this but my swing floor kills me with the crazy., (i gotta sell them im crying) -

im pretty similar to you. ive used the D1 6 s and didnt like it really. nothing heavier in that range, i swapped it out prettty quickly its low spin alright and i think it is mid launching(?) and perfecty good , nice feeling BUT its one of those take the left side out mumblers, that if you have any slice tendancies, is just plain awful.high slice a thons. mjr d is the man to ask about the 9003 i think by all reports that thing is a monster. as for weight..., ive gone form 69g to 77gs now and perform a lot better now .i use that weight in my epon and yamaha heads.. total club weight 320-325 grams now. SW no less than d3, ive gone heavier on these in the last 2 months and its made a great difference. hitting a lot more fairways and long. the mid launching shaft is the perfect balance to a 9.5-8.5 lofted head or as ive gone , and seem to prefer now 10* in the lower laucnching quadra fire line. u might want to have a look at he quadra line before u make ur mind up about GD. theres nothing better ive hit.... and ive him pretty much all of it. -
someone asked a while back about the 22* 9 wood pr-gr egg as a utility replacment. well i tried this yesteday, shafted it with a steel NS pro 1050 x (3 wood shaft) i want this club for the longer par 3s 206 yards to 220 yards. or the shorter par 5s primarily . i used it yesterday and smoothed it out, with nice high, non directional bias shots to 220 yards, none of the slice ive been encountering with normal utility rescues and i didnt have to fight to turn it over.if anything its slightly long,200 is hard for me to hit to with this but its absolutley perfect for 215-230, its got the spot in the bag for the forseeable future. the faiways now are set except for the 3 wood which continues to trouble me . the 13* egg with the fubuki 75 fw X is in the bag at the moment, but its so stout i think ill have change out that shaft to something a litltle more workable, the fubuki is just point shoot but you have to swing really hard. and it doesnt like to be worked at all i think the yamaha fricoff v 14* will get a run as the alternate to driver off the tees, i love the shape of this and its feel ,,,,,well..............,the 18* egg is perfect from fairways, that my most consistant club off the deck , im hitting that so well and so easily its long enough to get to the edge of par 5s and super accurate , the egg 5 wood and egg 9 wood , have their spots, the 3 wood is still concerning me. the choice is bewtween the egg 13* which ill use on windy bad days. --- the egg 15* and the yamaha V. shafts make such a differnce its incredible. the wrong shaft for your swing type ruins the club, thats the most important lesson ive learned this year with regards to equipment. shaft your heads correctly and the club becomes a wand!

hmmmmmmm, you have summed up my feelings on those irons perfectly. i was tying to get a set of miura blades to play links and firm turf ,windy days etcetc, ive recentyly re instated my sakamotos for that exact purpose. small sole ,compact head ,low punch shots. the epon are just unbeatable on lush green sponge conditions. but the sole on them is quite thick and i found i was making a lot more mistakes with them off tight cropped fairways compared to my kyoeis, i even think the af-tour s arnt as good as clubs with smaller soles.bridgestone 901s are a prime example, in terms of Endo forging, ive seen the light here recently. especially on the woods. i ve hit so many and varied this year , but now ill only use yamaha and epon drivers. and thats 100* beceause of the feel , there are problay longer clubs out there but for my lot and that swoosh when you connect epon wins hands down.

i have the kenmochi and the epon 208s the kenmochi have a fantastic grind ,probably the most versatile off all the wedges i use, the toe grind hleps enormously when u need to hit pancake shots that just die off the toe , and the shape frames the ball nicely. but he spin isnt what other wedges produce, and if anything these tend to turn over with full shots, which isnt ideal for a wedge!. i want to take my epons in and get them ground to the same grind as kenmochi, then i think ill have a mean assssssss set of wedges. the epons 208..., are a great shape, beautiful feel , but they lack variety. a meld of these is ideal for me, oh yea in austraia on hard pan lie the kenmochis perform really well. ive got a set down there for emergencies. bec of the grind you can lay these open and slice the blazes out of balls a lot easier than most others ive used, yururi are great for that as well .

its like the perfect wedge, or wave ........................, there isnt one but theres no harm in tying to find it........., right ? i also bought the 13* old egg last night with the fubuki 75 fw x used that today as well as my search for the perfect driver repalcement continues it goes about 3 feet off the ground it doesnt like moveing around a lot and runs for miles. have to go at it pretty hard to get it but the results were good i had the quadra 65s tipped put i IN THE new model 15* as well much better than the 75XS FW. still a little on the llght side tho.

Well, it happaend again, i was fishing around poking my nose in 3 woods section just sniffing about found the yamaha and liked it immediatly, THEN a random 2007 pr-gr 22* utility jumped out at me and said "hey fella hit me!" so i did , today, firstly i had the wrong shaft in the m-40 steel. but i used it anyway. its the best of these style utes ive hit . the look is terrific. the feel is sensational and you can move it where ever you like. distance was 195- 220 perfect and the trajectory was mid. id say this is done as my replacement , now to shaft it with a nice kbs steel shaft. BUT if this is from 2007 what are the new ones like............. T ?????
