  1. Are there one or two in that list that truly standout as a thing of beauty or amazing craftsmanship and feel? Can you differentiate the raw materials and the design concepts at all. Would really like to hear about the gold's factory '10 blades a bit more if at possible as well. Thank you!
  2. I've been playing a set of Mizuno MP-29's since roughly 2001. During that time, I've taken a 5 year hiatus from golf so my sticks are in pretty good shape, but am still interested purchasing a second set of irons. The current setup is 2-iron & 4 thru 9 irons with KBS Tour X-Stiff Shafts complimented with a Yamaha V201 Tourmodel Driver and a Yamaha 3-wood, and four Fourteen Golf Wedges - 47, 52, 56 and 60 degrees. My preferences are for very neutral clubs and I like the feedback and workability of a blade. If I have any complaints at all about the MP-29's it would be that I would prefer a more compact head - especially mentally on awkward lies. I'd say for modern blades, the width of the average MP-29 head is on the wide side. The easiest (and cheapest) choice for me would be work a connection to get a set of Mizuno MP-68's out of the tour van, but am very tempted by a bunch of the options available at TSG. Here are my criteria: 1) Roughly as forgiving as the MP-29's - I haven't hit all that many blades but am used to these clubs and would like that in general, distance to remain similar on solid and off center hits. 2) More compact than the MP-29's 3) Thin Top Line - I like clean linear features making things easy to align at setup 4) Feel that's as pure as the MP-29's or more so 5*) The rarity/beauty factor is always nice, but not at the cost of performance Given this criteria I've assembled this list of clubs and would like some input from the TSG staff as well as members that have seen these clubs: 2009 Epon AF Tour Blades Miuraism SB-01 Compact Blades Gold's Factory Flat Back Irons 3-PW 2009 Royal Collection Limited RC Forged Pro Preference Model Limited Edition Black My final setup for a 5 iron would be a lie of 60 degrees, loft of 26 degrees and length of 37.75". Please, if possible compare the feel of the setup and steel to MP-68's since they're a widely accessible benchmark. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  3. I've recently dropped my 3-Iron from my bag (keeping a 2-Iron) and added a 4th wedge to my set. I'm using the Fourteen M28 V4 Wedges with KBS Black Nickel Shafts in the 48, 52, 56 (high bounce) and 60 Degree models.

That's great feedback guys, thanks. I think that I'll try to give both a 5 wood and a more iron-like hybrid and see how it goes from there. Much appreciated! David

I'm getting back into golf after about a 7 year hiatus (I averaged about 1-2 rounds a year from 2002 on). At the time, I was consistently shooting somewhere in the 74-76 range and had good distance. Fairly strong iron player so would often forego a driver or 3-wood off the tee in favor of a solid 2I that would still put the ball out there 260 or so with roll. In the 7 year period where I wasn't playing much I became a very avid rock climber and the increases to forearm strength have really added to my clubhead speed. I've been slowly updating almost all the clubs in my bag. Mizuno MP-29 Irons w/ S400 2-PW -> Mizuno MP-29 Irons w/ KBS Tour X-Stiff 6.5 Shafts, spined 2I, 4I-9I MP-29 PW, Cleveland 51 & 57 Degree Wedges -> Fourteen 48, 52, 56, 60 Wedges w/ KBS Wedge Nickel Shafts X-Stiff Kasco 9.5 Degree 0.5 Degree Open Driver -> TaylorMade Tour Burner TP 9.5 w/ Axiv-V 7080 X Shaft. Sonartec 14 Degree Fairway Wood with Speeder 757 X Shaft -> No Change While I'm confident in the 2I off the tee I was considering adding a hybrid iron to make that club more useful from other lies as well as for landing the ball softer on the greens on long approaches. I want to consider a 5 Wood or a 2 or 3 Iron Hybrid with a steel shaft and want to find something that still allows for good shot shaping and errs on the flat lie/open club face side rather than the draw/closed that most hybrids are. Is there anything you guys recommend? Assuming that ball striking is consistent, would you recommend the 5W or the hybrid route as the most versatile? David
