A-Grind Lilwood
They basically combined the ease to launch characteristics of a fairway wood and the workability of a hybrid. rounded sole, shallow face like a fairway. Sole width is narrower like a hybrid so goes thru the turf easier. Also it uses a .335" tip Fubuki shaft for a fairway wood so it helps further with launch and provides better kick compared to a .350" or .370" tipped shaft. I think it would work well for those who struggle to launch their hybrids high enough.

Calling PNW TSGer's outing for July or August, 2019
So unfortunately I made a last minute decision change to bring my Seven x Shinagawa irons along with the Seven VS-R putter instead of the Benock. Sorry Proswing, but I promise to bring the Benock on our next gathering. Loomis Trails was an awesome track. Lots of surprise water and sand all over the course !!! ( implies that we struggled a bit on the score !! 🙂 ) We all agreed that we needed to come back again for a revenge match!! Weather was good! the beer after the 9th hole really helped cool things down in the 80deg F temperature. Cant want to go out with the guys again soon! Cuistot, we missed you today at the gathering! Hope you heel quickly!

ONOFF labo 2017 kuro
I think these very much resemble the labospec 358CB from the prior year. Very thick top line but next to no offset. I had the 2017 for just a tiny bit shafted with MCI Black shafts and they were really easy to hit with very good feel.

JBeam G-801 9.75 deg / 1 deg open head only and a few other things
Hey Ian, I've tried a few shafts in it. Speeder TR 569, Kurokage XD and ATMOS Tourspec Black. The flight is very penetrating and spin is mid low. I needed to try this head because I have a G-FW fairway wood that has grown roots in my bag.... it's not coming out anytime soon. Might be the best fairway wood I've ever had. It'll take on a Ryoma F2 any day. Crazy just came out with a 12.5 deg option for their Full Ti FW ... might be a contender but the G-FW looks to be slightly larger and possibly a bit more forgiving just by the looks. I'm sure the new Crazy is a rocket launcher as well. Back to the driver. I now have a G410 LST and well... it is very good.... The looks at address on the other hand, G-801 wins by a mile. Though a shallower profile, it is not overly large. No funny patterns or alignment marks etc... No yellow paint! (LOL) It is very traditional and clean. The paint on the crown does have subtle metallic blue glitter if you look closely. Really nice. The face angle looks pretty neutral to me even though it was spec's at 1 deg open. It does not look closed for sure. ( that was my intention when ordering ). The sound and feel is one of the better ones from JBeam I think. Still not the Grandista RS-D perfection of a sound and feel. But not too KLANKy as long as you don't over tighten the screws. I bet you can even put some hot melt to improve the sound even more. My after thought is that I should have gone with a 10 deg or 10.25 deg loft. 9.75deg is a bit low for me and combined with a tip stiff shaft, it sort of gave me drops balls. I think the laser grooving on the face is helping out with lowering spin. While I have not gone on a real launch monitor, the distances seen on Top Tracer, I was getting was comparable distances to my other drivers at the time, Mizuno GX , Mizuno St190 , St190G and Grandista RS-D ... they are really all similar. 245 to 255 carry .. 260- to 280 with roll and occasionally peaking into 300. That's what I get with the Ping G410 and surprisingly with my old Ping G20 as well. When launching conditions all come together, it is as good as anything out there. Really nothing wrong with it. I'm just going for ultimate forgiveness in an effort to lower my average score .... Ping is my current stick but who knows in a week or two. 🙂

Prepping now for tomorrow's game. Axis1 Rose putter is going back to where it came from. Just did not feel anything at the course today. Will take my backup set with the Benock putter. tomorrow.

Axis1 Rose or Directed Force putter.. anyone try one yet?
So I received the Axis1 Rose putter last night.... putting it on carpet side by side against the JDM Odyssey Stroke Lab #7 . I haven't even peeled the shrink wrap... 1st impression is that it "looks" okay. But when you tap on the plastic fang section, you just keep wondering "why" Within this short time that I have been trying this on thee carpet, I do notice that there is less dispersion on the trace of the ball takes. It almost feels like it has a much larger sweet spot. Note sure if this is the case, but balls are rolling more consistently with less dispersion. The look at address will take some getting used to with the shaft connecting to the head at the heel in front of the face edge. Feel is actually decent. I think 303 steel with semi-deep milling on the face helps with the softer feel. It does not actually feel dense probably because the hitting area is actually not that thick. Still debating....

JBeam G-801 9.75 deg / 1 deg open head only and a few other things
Jbeam G-801 9.75deg / 1 deg open FA / 206g + weight kit + unused head cover Condition is 9/10. Bought and tried earlier this spring , but I am doing better with USDM drivers at the moment and this head needs to go. $350 OBO + actual shipping Epon AF-505 #4 and #5 head only Condition is 9/10 Used it with the SUS316 iron since I could not hit the 4&5 out of the set very well. 🙂 As a bonus, I will include Epon Iron covers 4-PW (faux carbon fiber) and a visor ($100+ just for these) $300 OBO + actual shipping

Axis1 Rose or Directed Force putter.. anyone try one yet?
I'm still waiting on the putter but I just found out that the bumpers that is screwed on to the blade section is supposedly made of plastic.... PLASTIC!!? Really? What upsets me is that there is no mention of plastic on the product description. Only 303 Stainless Steel. Was actually wondering how they have achieved torque free balancing after adding the fangs to the head. For a $449 putter, at least they could have done some lighter metal, like Aluminum or Titanium you would think.... I'll roll it on the carpet once I get it to see if it produces significantly different/stable feel to my stroke, but it better be so much better if I were to keep a putter that's made of half plastic. At this point I think there is a good chance that I will enact upon the 30 day money back policy. 😞

Thoughts on draw biased drivers... Is "Anti-Left" really the solution for amateur players?
Had two rounds with the new driver. Yesterday with a Speeder TR 569 X flex and this morning with the stock Evenflow 75g S flex.... well... While the Evenflow is a very nice feeling shaft, I do believe the weight was a bit too much for e to handle for a full round. I was much more consistent with my drives yesterday with the Speeder shaft. May try an ATMOS Tourspec in this head now...

I had the G400 when it came out but had consistency issues ... probably my swing than anything else. Agree with the MAX... just too big and seems to take away your focus ..

Thoughts on draw biased drivers... Is "Anti-Left" really the solution for amateur players?
Ended up picking up a G410 LST 9 deg with a 75g PX Evenflow 6.0 yesterday. I somehow had higher clubhead speed with this shaft than the 65g Ping Tour shafts... 105 clubhead speed, 14 to 15 deg launch with 2300 backspin... 260 carry and 285 with roll ... can't argue with those numbers. Been using stiffer but lighter shafts as of late but maybe I need to start re-considering heavier options again.

Axis1 Rose or Directed Force putter.. anyone try one yet?
cool!!! I've seen the original Axis1 in person and as you say, material are not the best. The Axis1 Rose is made of milled 303 at least on the blade part and they tacked on the bumpers to look like the Odyssey 7 or TM Ardmore. I should have mine next week. can't wait to try it!!

Axis1 Rose or Directed Force putter.. anyone try one yet?
If I can actually shave off a few strokes off my current game to achieve a few more under par rounds, ugly duckling will look very attractive to me. 🙂

Thoughts on draw biased drivers... Is "Anti-Left" really the solution for amateur players?
This year, I started off trying a few USDM drivers and ended up gaming a Mizuno ST190 for a while. While most shots were straight as an arrow with monsterous distances ( from my standards ), my occasional misses were pushes to the right. I had these misses once or twice during a round which cost me anywhere from 2 to 3 shots. It was getting to be a big source of frustration and my confidence on driver shots was impacted over time. I tried to adjust the driver such that it had a more neutral or even draw bias setting but I think USDM drivers typically are designed with anti-left characteristics whereas JDM heads tend to emphasize "ease to capture" the ball or "Tsukamaru" in Japanese. I notice that JDM driver descriptions always mention this "Tsukamaru" or " Ease to Capture the ball" in their product description these days. What kind of bugs me is that USDM drivers for as long as I can remember always positions their new drivers to "eliminate misses to the left".... Hmmmm.... most amateur players that I know hardly miss their shots to the left... JDM drivers on the other hand are emphasizing that their new drivers are easier to draw and helps with lessening the slices that most amateurs struggle with.. Makes more sense to me. Polar oppposite marketing strategies here. Back to my experience... After struggling to get the ST190 dialed in for my swing, I finally gave up and pulled out my Mizuno GX driver. The GX is definitly a more draw biased driver that helps eliminate misses to the right. My other driver Grandista RS-D is in fact also a similar draw biased driver which almost never shoots the ball to the right. After trying many many drivers to find the most forgiving automatic driver that I can take out on the couse to just knock drives out on the fairway 250 yards... my conclusion is that I have a much easier time trying to correct slight over-draws to striaghten out compared to facing occasional surprise pushes to the right during a round. I am starting to like heads that are draw biased from a weight location (CG) perspective but the face should still be neutral to slightly open. ( Mizuno GX and Grandista RS-D fit the bill here ) I do intend in trying a few more drivers that claim draw bias, Ping G410 SFT, M6 D-Type, or M-Gloire might be of interest... I'm starting to feel that anti-left sentiment on drivers are over rated.

Axis1 Rose or Directed Force putter.. anyone try one yet?
Read up on both the Axis1 Rose and Directed Force putter and while the Directed Force putter seem to be the true non-balanced head shape, I really don't dig the shape of that head.... So, I will be trying the Axis1 Rose here shortly. Not sure why, but the Axis1 Rose does not come standard with a Flat Cat grip?!! I'll be replacing the standard Lamkin Deep Etched Grip ( I know it's a great grip that's been around for ages!! but out dated I think!! ) with a Flat Cat grip and make it a Justin Rose Replica putter! An extra 25 bucks for the grip but whatever! Will report back once I have it and tried it.

Axis1 Rose or Directed Force putter.. anyone try one yet?
So these putters have no balance angle to the head. During the stroke, the head does not try to rotate in any direction, Just stays the way it is at address. Been mostly using the Odyssey Japan Stroke Lab #7 lately and really like it ... but since the Axis1 Rose model looks very similar shape wise to the Odyssey 7, I might have to give it a go.
