  1. might be the best-looking, simplest irons I've ever seen. Anybody hit these or gonna give 'em a try? Would love to know how they perform.
  2. I got one and it sits PERFECTLY square. No probs there.
  3. Got my Tour driver a few days ago. Maybe I ordered it too soon?
  4. I'm going out of town for a few days but I'll try when I get back. I'm not very good at getting pics online, started a photobucket acct but can't seem to get it right very often. Too old I guess for this new stuff. But I'll try. One of my complaints with the manufacturers is that they don't ever want to show you how it looks at address especially with irons and wedges. The most important view! That's where a club's look can make it or break it for me.
  5. Got my Yamaha wedges, 21* ute, 3-wood and Tour driver the other day and took them out yesterday. The wedges: very nice-looking, Modus 3 shafts. A little bigger in size than I was expecting. Soft feel, but not as soft as the 2012 Tour irons. Only hit full shots and some big flops because I was at a local range with no short game area. And the wind was 25-30 MPH from the right so it was kinda hard to tell distance but they seemed right in line with my Miura y- and c-grind wedges. Faces a little smaller than the Miuras. The grind is pretty similar, both have heel and toe relief and similar bounce, but a little more trailing edge relief with the Miuras. Really nice wedges. The 21* ute. Also really nice-looking (does Yam make anything that isn't?), with Nippon steel hybrid shaft. Muted but crisp contact (similar to Tourstage ute in feel but quieter) and easy to launch. Easy to set up, sits about a degree or 2 open. Easy to hit either way and punch. A really versatile. Distance, I dunno cuz it was so damn windy. The 3-wood: Again, great-looking club, got it with the upgraded GD shaft (MX-615 ?). Shallow head, super easy to launch high, although that might be partly the shaft, which I'll prob replace with a GD SF-7. The one in it's a little light and sloppy. But the head feels and looks great and is pretty forgiving so it should be a gamer. Ahhh, the Tour driver: Don't know why I even got it cuz I like the 2012 Tour driver so much. (well, I know why, don't we all?) Its really similar to last year's as far as the head. Great shape, great feel. Got it with the new GD GT shaft in stiff, 10* like last year's. At address, the 2012 and 2013 are hard to tell apart, except the 2013 sits perfectly square whereas the 2012 sits about a degree or two open. This shaft feels a little softer just waggling it, might be the lower kick point? Launches a tad higher than the 2012 with the GD BB shaft, and feels softer at impact as well. And it's just a beautiful shaft, a less bright, silvery blue, with a dark silver upper area and a very subtle small, lime green stripe in the striped area. Might be the gamer on calm days when I want high bombs. Again, couldn't tell afa distance cuz of the wind and $#!++y range balls, but it surely seemed adequate. I can't see how it would be shorter than last year's, which was plenty long while not being the longest I've ever hit. All in all, I'm sure I'll prob game the driver and 3-wood (re-shafted) for 2013. Gonna have to compo the hybrid with my Tourstage on the course, but may use it as well. The wedges, well, don't know. Probably alternate them with the Miura y- and c-grind for a few rounds and see which one likes to put it closer to the hole. But it's all great equipment that will perform for anyone who knows how to use it. Couldn't find fault with any of it. Never do with Yamaha, they may offer the best line-up, top to bottom, of anybody out there. I've been alternating Miura baby blades and 2012 Yamaha tour irons for a while and may even go to the Yammies for next year. Their stuff just flat-out performs.

Definitely the Yamahas if that's the extent of your options.
  7. I like it. It's so busy as not to be distracting. I especially like those curved gold lines on top. Do agree though that the seam on the bottom could have been cleaner.
  8. I'd like to hear as well. All of their irons look really nice, even that CX-Forged looks good for a GI stick. Don't know about their quality. Would like to know. Didn't you just get some 302's also? Thought you were the one who wanted the Miura 102's, got talked into the 9003's, and ditched them for Epons. Oh well, can't have too many sets.
  9. Here's one I've used and liked that doesn't get much talk: http://www.tourspecgolf.com/product_info.php?products_id=2572
  10. Sounds good! No prob, my game's been rusty all year but it should be nice here then and I'd love to check out your AF-103 and Personals. If I'm not in the mountains skiing!
  11. Sounds good! Count me in. It gets pretty expensive trying stuff out and not liking it. Then what, Ebay? No, thanks. BST? Better. But would rather be able to try it out first.
  12. I gamed a putter from them a couple years ago that was pretty good. Moved on from it though.
  13. I live in Dallas and any of you regulars are ever through here, give me a shout. I play at a really good course (often rated best in Texas) and would be glad to show someone a good round. Really getting tired of just seeing TM, Titleist, and Adams and having to explain why I play second-rate equipment. haha Would love to see some of this other gear you guys have.

    That's exactly what I thought.
  15. Hopefully, the new Yamaha's. Cuz I've tried a bunch of them and can't get on with any of them. RC, TS, and a few others. Good question, though. Maybe Epon?

I e-mailed Endo directly and asked where Epon and Yamaha irons were made. He replied that they can't tell me as their business practice prevents it. I don't know if this is normal, but I responded back that as a JDM enthusiast, I want to know where my stuff is made. Especially when paying premium prices. Just like my cars. I know that my MB GL550 is made in the states and it doesn't bother me THAT much. Well, it kinda does....at least I know my CL600 was made in Germany. But at least they tell you where they're made. Maybe it doesn't matter and they use the same high standards as in their Japanese factories, who knows. I just kinda like the thought of my JDM stuff being made in Japan. The world is shrinking, guess we're gonna have to deal with it.
  17. Usually, when people grow up they dispense with their attention-grabbing band-aids. Why can't Gold's?
  18. If I wanted some of these with Modus 3 shafts (tour model), are they available and what kind of time frame?
  19. I love Yamaha stuff, but I'm not sure this makes sense. A smaller blade with the same MOI as last year's Tour CB (which I have and play in my travel bag) but with an emphasis on control? Seem kind of mutually exclusive. Bigger sweet spot, less control/consistency. Vice versa. Or is this the first iron ever to have it all? Hmmmm, maybe I'll have to get in get back on the list.
  20. Damn, dude, can I have the ones you don't want anymore?! Nice sticks, all of 'em. Don't know about those Hakusas. Are those Carl's? (Matsui I think, of Chikara)
  21. If you're dead set against a combo set (lots of tour guys do it), then I'd definitely get the 302's. I've had the 302's and 502's and while the 502's are longer, they have a "jumpy" sort of feel that is quite different than what you're used to. And IMO distance control is pretty difficult with them. The 302's are less jumpy but I and some others still had more trouble getting consistent distances compared to your Miuras. JMO. Others don't seem to have as much problem with them.
  22. I still think you ought consider just getting a Miura 202 2-5 iron. Will feel and play much more like a baby blade with the forgiveness of the MP60. Also looks a lot better than the Epons at address if you like the BB's, less offset and squarer toe. Surely you could get 3 or 4 clubs from Miura for less than these deals on the Epons?
  23. I ordered a set but cancelled when I heard they were blades. Have enough of those now. But MAY change my mind depending on how they look. If any are left....
  24. At the risk of hijacking this thread, does anyone else notice that the JDM FW's that have driver/fairway shafts in them aren't tipped? I've gotten several over the years, usually with GD DJ or BB shafts. If you buy the shaft and install it, you normally tip it 1-2 inches for a fairway wood. The FW's from RC, Tourstage, etc don't appear to be tipped (the bands around the shaft are the same distance from the head in both) and usually frequency out really low. 45" drivers usually CPM at 252-258, same with the 42.25" 3-wood. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this. Maybe that's the reason I can't settle on any of these FW's? Can't seem to get any consistency. Nah, probably the swing...
