  1. Ever since I became interested in buying some JDM irons early this year, I have been paying close attention to what all my friends and playing partners are gaming in their bags(yes creepy i know), to see if there are any JDMs that i could try. Due to the nature of my profession(private banking), I travelled alot and played with lots of different people, mostly in HK, Taiwan, China, and a little bit California. So I figure that I can share a little bit of what I have seen. I play regularly with many good players (ranging from shooting 70-85), here are some observations regarding their irons: For US brands, titleist and mizuno(yes i know mizuno is JP brand but they are global) are by far the most popular. In terms of JDM, there are a few sets of Miura Giken(2 blades and 2 CB); two guys play yamaha v forged; maybe 3 sets of tourstage stuff(some viqs); one guy plays fourteen; two guys play RC blades and another also plays RC(some sort of CB, an older model); one guy plays onoff(some kind of limited model); saw a set of Romaro this past weekend for the first time; one set of srixon; and lots older guys (over 60 years old) play either XXIO or Majesty(surprisingly no honma). I understand that this is a very small sample (roughly around 50 players), but I am surprised to see that no one is gaming any EPON irons! I did see one EPON driver, but no irons. I find this interesting, especially knowing how highly regarded EPON is here in TSG. Again, this is just my personal observation from a small group, and by no means I am making generalized claims about anything. What do you guys think?
  2. Thanks for all the inputs guys. I am a bit surprised that Tourstage although still very respected, is no longer on top of people's lists anymore. On other hand, the Yamaha V forged (both tour and non tour) are getting some serious love here in TSG!!
  3. Hey guys, due to complications I wasn't able to pick up a set of personals.. Long story.. Anyway, I am back to the big iron search and became interested in the new X-Blade 707 model. Tried the search button and not much came up. Also watched the video by Gocchin, but still want to learn a bit more. Has anyone tried or gamed these? Many thanks!
  4. Thanks for the sound advice from Tourspecgolfer and everyone!
  5. Hey guys, from the suggestions of some members here, I pretty much narrow my iron search down to Epon 302 and the Titleist VG3. However, I stumbled upon a set of the Personal yesterday at my fitter. They were absolutely stunning! Of course they were not available for me to hit, so I could only wonder how good they feel. A few of the guys here mentioned that these are actually quite forgiving. Are these too much club for a 13 capper? I am looking for an all around gamer set that can stay in the bag for at least a year. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the replies guys! Sounds like vg3 is the perfect blend of both ap1 and 2.
  7. Hi gocchin and fellow members, new to the TSG forum here. I am wondering about the size of the new VG3. Since an actual set is pretty hard to find around where I live, it would be great if you guys could compare the size to the AP1 or AP2 for me. Thanks very much!
